    deannatr,

Ask your own MP if this has been brought up in Parliament, they will tell you it has, it was a Conservative MP that brought it up in the commons, he said that in selling all councils housing stock to the private sector it would bring in a lot of money that would enable the building of more houses, (now get this) a Labour MP got up and supported everthing the Conservative MP had said. At this point I knew it would happen, stands to reason after everything that has been privatised in the last forty odd years, does it not?.

If you came and seen the tree you would agree with us, I will give you a 100% guarantee on that, that's what makes this so, so strange.
I haven't seen the tree (you could help by posting some pictures) but on the basis of what you've said so far I think it is 98% certain I wouldn't agree with you.

Cakeguts, you along with Sector1 are making a lot of assumptions that have nothing to do with the thread.
I'm not sure what assumptions you think I've made, or why you think anything I or Cakeguts have said isn't relevant to the thread.

The comments we have contributed are to the effect that the council is entitled to place a TPO on a tree they believe to be worth protecting, that if you wish to purchase the property you need to accept it comes with a TPO'd tree, and that it is questionable whether purchasing the property in your circumstances would be a wise decision. All of which seems entirely on topic.
I have stated the reason why we are wanting to buy this bungalow, it is not to leave an inheritance, my wife and I think there will be a house price collapse in the next two years, we believe it will be a very substantial collapse, we both think that in buying this bungalow we will lose money even after the discount, we are buying sorley for the security that buying will give my wife, please do not assume things that are not true.
It is likely your current housing arrangements are as secure as it is possible to get and buying the property may in fact leave your wife less secure than she currently is. You should really seek professional advice on this, rather than making assumptions based on something you heard on TV.

Is it just me or does none of this make sense?

You want to buy this bungalow now because you believe there will be a housing price collapse within two years. Why not buy AFTER the collapse?

What 'security' will buying bring your wife?

As Cakeguts has already told you (twice), as council tenants, both you and your wife are bulletproof until the day you die. All you need to do is pay your rent and adhere to the terms of your tenancy.

So one Conservative MP has said all council houses should be sold to raise funds, to enable the building of more social housing? A Labour MP agreed with him.., and its now certain to happen?

Generally speaking, it takes a lot more than two MPs to pass something like this.

The proposition doesn't really make sense. Usually there's a white paper before something even becomes close to reality, and still one can't say x is going to happen.

I'd really be grateful for links, I like facts.

    Section1,

I don't think you understand anything of this thread!, what would you say if the tree came down and killed my wife and I, or came down on the seat under the tree where teenagers gather on a night time. Please stop making assumptions when you haven't seen the tree, you sound like a judge that makes a judgement before the trial has taken place!!!. I can't post a link or picture as I don't want anyone to know where we live. Many around here would know it was us, we don't want that.

I only came on here to know if it was possible to get "buildings insurance" and explain why, you and others may thing what you want.

You said you had heard this in parliament, I always believe in going to the source. Or can't you be bothered to substantiate what you say?

I have searched on google, nothing comes up relating to this happening in parliament.

Get a report from another Tree Surgeon.

Get him to state what work needs to be done to make it safe.

    Present this to the council.

If they refuse to carry out the work tell them in writing that if anything happens you will hold them responsiblle.

Get this done before you buy the house.

    General,

It is simple, once we have a place of our own we have the security that will bring us, we are not looking to make money, that is not in our thoughts, never has been. As the old saying goes "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".

    POPPYO,

We already have done all you have said, it falls on deaf ears, we can't get a tree surgeon to go against the councils tree surgeon, read my previous posts.
