I am so pleased to have escaped - I was with them for a month, but that was a month too long. I have switched away, but they still can't produce a correct final bill. My account is showing over £400 in debit, when it should be around £50 in credit. Even when you leave they haunt you. The worst company I have ever dealt with. They seem to listen to Trustpilot reviews, so maybe I ought to update my saga over there.1

So I am a bit conflicted here. I have been with them for over a year, my meter reads etc were correct when I joined, I give my own meter reads every month, i get billed after, it's all fairly accurate, and no issues. The price has gone up, but they were my cheapest before, and now about same as cheapest on comparison for my tariff despite being variable but no exit fees. I keep seeing people with issues on this forum. Maybe I been lucky, there is a bit of a thread with issues on last meter reads, meter records etc.and passing details from previous suppliers. As I haven't had any issues, and still competitive for me at least, I will keep going. My issue will be if they don't add the 10% credit from Feb after 60 days from topping up account. It was a gamble, but let's see what happens, if it works, then I'm up. If not I will leave with no exit fees. As I have had no problems, but I see others have, I am keeping it with it, but with one eye open, will keep you posted how it goes .

Sometimes (if it's within a certain tolerance) they are actually obliged to use the entirely fictitious reading produced by the 'validator'.Presumably, having only been with Green for a month, there was no time to enure the correct start reading was used. It's likely that the 'validator' gave them a much lower start reading than your actual reading. This should be the reading that your previous supplier also used to close your account with them, so any discrepancy would normally be limited to the difference in unit prices (i.e. not much) because there would be a corresponding undercharging by your previous supplier to go with the overcharging by Green.

I'm thinking of switching to Green from EON now that my fixed rate tariff with them has come to an end. Does anyone know if my Smart Meter will automatically transfer over? I was previously with NPower, who then merged with EON.0

There is a massive industry wide effort to get all SMETS1 meters remotely upgraded and enrolled with the DCC so you can switch to any supplier you want and not loose smart functionality. They are doing these in 3 groups depending on the manufacturer of the SMETS1 meter.0 -
No issues here with Green. Sign up process worked well, transfer so far on plan, account set up, checked out the details via their "magic link" website login which worked fine and all details correct. Tariff is cheapest around and also it's a 2 year fixed (Lamont tariff).
I take screenshots when enter meter readings, as did when for previous supplier and new supplier, no issues then with "proof" of meter reading entries. Checked - no need to have a smart meter (you can refuse one if asked with them). Phoned their customer service the other day, quite helpful, waited about 15 minutes for answer which is quick by others' standards.
Happy bunny so far. Green.energy (so far) recommended. Cheapest price too - as per MSE site and also Citizen Advice site - top rating too.0 -
Would absolutely NOT recommend Green Energy. Switched to them few months ago and been a nightmare trying to get the opening reads correct and tied in with the previous supplier and they now cancelled the DD and increased it to a new one 2.5 x higher. Incredibly long wait times on the phone to speak to someone, weeks to answer emails and someone different to deal with each time requiring constant repetition of the many issues. Made a formal complaint but they haven't even bothered comign back to me about that. Avoid them at all costs-they make look cheap but the hassle with them and very poor customer service just not worth it.
