Another day stuck in the house with the dreaded lurgy. I am under strict instruction not to venture near the office!

Had to put the heating on this morning. I don't usually feel the cold, so when I do, it's a sure sign I'm ill.

Briefly ventured to the shop tonight, as I was out of bread and one or two other things, but kept strictly to my list.

All meals were from stores - soup and a beef sandwich for dinner, last night's left over curry for tea with a jacket potato.

Thanks everyone!! Baileys Babe - I'll be the grey-haired lady in a sea of young studenty-type people!!! If you spot me, come and say hi!!

I ended up going by train yesterday - the weather faired up long enough for me to get there and back without a soaking, but jings it was chilly!! I met some friends for lunch at a cafe we've been to before - but it's under new management, and things aren't as good as previously. Such a shame - £6.99 for a bowl of soup that I didn't enjoy (how can you get soup wrong!!) was £6.99 too much. I don't think we'll be back.

Weather isn't showing any signs of improvement, but I need to buy a couple of cards - will also be going to the card factory 1LL as other places are just so expensive. And I need to buy a couple of funky buttons to attach to the bootees that I've knitted, ready for the imminent arrival of grandchild #4 (due 15/6). Done - got a Father's Day card and a 1st birthday card for one of the grandchildren (99p each at Card Factory), and two lovely wooden buttons with hearts on them to go on the bootees (43p each). Sadly it cost £2.48 to post the card to Australia, but what can you do?

But apart from that the whole day's my own. Hmm, what to do. If the weather was even half decent, I would go for a walk (actually, the grass needs cutting and the car could do with a wash too, so if it was nice I'd have plenty to do!!) - but as it's horrid out there, it's going to be an indoor day. I always find June such a disappointment - nice days in April and May are a bit of a bonus, but by June it ought to be nice, but it very rarely is, and this makes me cross. I've rearranged the furniture!! Well, some of the furniture - I've moved my office into the spare bedroom since OH moved out, and it's become something of a dumping ground, so today I shifted a chest of drawers and an old kist to make better use of storage space. It's a way of reclaiming parts of the house, I guess.

I might do some research into listing things on Folksy - in fact, as I'm going to the wool shop for buttons anyway, I might invest a bob or two in some wool and make a start. Might as well be doing that as anything else!! More knitting started!!

Have a good day, whatever the weather.

Morning everyone, so I worked last night and I've woken up this morning with a sniffy nose, sore throat and fuzzy head! Great! I've got to pick up DS from my MIL at 9am and I'm not sure what we are going to do today, everything seems to cost money and its DS day off pre school today so we usually do something, providing the weather is ok!

    Anyway my list for today:

    - LSD
    - Pack up Amazon parcel and go to post office to send and wait for refund!
    - Pick up DS prescription from the chemist
    - B/L/D from home
    - Load of washing on and hang on airer to dry
    - Check online banking - Done, not a pretty sight, slightly worried about getting by until payday!
    - General day to day tidy at home, nothing to much!

I think that's about all for today, I'll try and check back in later on! Hope everyone has a good day x

    Morning all,
Great news on the job, Trailing. Blog sounds interesting & it's obviously found a good audience.
    Today's plans:
*No spending, as I'm not going out.
*Thorough vacuum & clean of Foxgloves HQ, as I got the clearing out finished yesterday, apart from shredding, but that will be added to, so can wait.
    *Bake a wholemeal loaf.
    *Bake bread rolls for freezer.
*Bake something else for freezer.... maybe little scones or a rhubarb cake.
    *Do audit of emergency/Brexit stash.
*Tidy out rest of pantry while I'm on the ladder.
    *Make packed lunch.
*Spare sliced pepper & refried beans out of freezer for tonight's Fajhitas.
    *Pick salad.
*Try to make sense of legal letter received yesterday concerning Mum's estate. Honestly, I'm educated to a high level & would say that words & comprehension are my greatest strength, but on a quick scan through, I don't really understand the legalese of what they are asking me. I need to sit down properly & try to work it out, as it then needs to go off to my sis for signing before going back to the solicitors so I don't want to build in any more delay. I just want this all to be over now.
*Knit more sock if I have time & can locate my missing 2.5 dpn. I don't want to buy a new set cos of losing one needle.
OK, must go & get first bread dough mixed up & stop moaning.
    F xx

What about free stuff to do with the little one? Are there any activities at your local library for little ones? Or even just go and read / choose some books? A picnic in the park if not raining? A picnic on a blanket in the living room if the weather is bad? Local ducks / swans to feed? Painting / crafts? Baking? Planting seeds? (you don't need a garden, a favourite with my grandchildren is drawing faces on half (used) eggshells, stuffing with damp cotton wool and sprinkling cress seeds on top. When the cress grows, it looks like hair). Is there a local museum with free entry?

    Hi everyone,

Great news on the job trailing!! :j
Foxgloves - do you have a bread maker? I've been considering one so send me any tips you have please! Good luck with all the paperwork/legalese... I used to volunteer for the pensions ombudsman and loads of the complaints just had to do with people not understanding the documentation. So frustrating that they weren't written in plain English in the first place!

I was trying to get back to sleep until 9am but alas I'm wide awake... So may as well get on with it...

Meant to be another rainy day here but do kinda need to venture to the shops and brave the rain!

Ordered 8kg of laundry powder yesterday from amazon - sick of liquid detergent/capsules.

    Need to sort ynab :)

Might look into child benefit form I need to fill in:D

Doing burgers for tea so need to pick up rolls and a couple of potatoes. Bit of a use up tea. My fave kind :D

    La E,
I don't have a bread maker. I've owned two in the past but they both became unreliable, refusing to mix properly, which meant I couldn't use the timer at all, & making heavy bread. Both also just stopped working. So I decided not to re-buy. I make almost all our bread, including sourdough & rolls by hand. I'd have struggled to do this so regularly while I was working full time, but it's perfectly achievable now.
Re the legalese.... Thanks for the sympathy! It's ridiculous, as I have a Masters degree but am unable to discern from this letter exactly what 'further information' they require. It's to do with conveyancing & references 'the terms of the covenant' a lot. I shall sit down & go through it line by line. Fortunately, as it is not our house that we're selling, 'I don't know' seems to be an acceptable answer. But I shall answer any points I can...... once I understand what they are. iyswim.
