Morning
was busy yesterday, great to see so many faces!
Hey Karb :hello: haven't see you for years! Hope the man flu clears up soon
trailing you sound fabulous because you ARE fabulous! Don't forget it x
It has turned out to be a nice day here today. Yesterday we had that torrential rain in the news  I had to drive back 40 miles in it on the motorway - my anxiety went through the roof!
Today I have a phone interview for a trainee upholster & machinist position. Also I am likely to get a call about a position doing alterations today. Exciting but also causing me some anxiety! If I'm honest I think given a choice I would prefer the alterations one.
Other than that:
* do a 10 min meditation
* pick up pup and book in dates for handovers for the next few months
* go for a run
* paint madam's walls. Will be mixing up some paint already in the garage for this stage :money: Should be finished with the walls tomorrow
* pay mechanic on behalf of my ds
* speak to neighbour re bill for our ceiling repaired yesterday
* I would like to go to the allotment for an hour as today is set to be nice and the rest of the week rain
* lo pork fajitas for tea. Will make wraps :money:
* contact customer re alteration
* read book at some point
* cut out fabric to make re-usable sandwich bags with madam for end of year gift to teacher and ta
* load of washing and hang out on new line :j
* put away mountain of washing
Ok that seems like enough!DF as at 30/12/16

Morning all

DNMS, sounds like you have a busy day planned - good luck with those interviews!
Well, it is still raining outside, and so cold I have the heating on  (though only on the thermostat so it comes on when the temp drops below 18 degrees).
No chance of any gardening, so will look for cleaning and tidying jobs indoors today. I won't have to look very hard :rotfl:
I am thinking kitchen to start off with, then the lounge... and the spare bedroom looks like a dumping ground. We will see!
No plans for spending, though OH is off to the golf club for coffee with friends, so he will spend a little bit (not expensive though).
All food will be from home
Not a very interesting day - had hoped to go camping this week, but not while the weather is like this :eek:0 -
Morning all
Still catching up but a quick list. I had an incredibly carp day in work yesterday. Def got strung up by my manager. And the more I think about it, the more annoyed I am.

Hi guys,
DNMS - good luck, they both sound exciting!!
CLF - hope work is OK...
I'm having a lazy morning so far and still in bed with LO. She was grumbling until mama picked her up and put her on me.
... Now I'm stuck here with my cuppa just out of reach. #newmumlife
I need to take some stuff back I bought last week, but don't know if I can be bothered... Haven't figured out the best place to park underground and can't face the train... Might just tidy round the house (really needs doing!)
Also making the most of my Netflix subscription with some binge watching
Oh is WFH so saving a tiny bit of petrol there I guess...
All meals from stores:cool:0 -
Weird double post. Please ignore me

Sorry to hear the camping isn't going to happen DawnW - what a shame. And thanks for the kind words dnms. I tootle along thinking I'm OK then something happens that makes me realise my confidence ain't what it used to be!!! Hoping it'll come back soon!!
Two major pieces of news from Trailing World today -
Thing 1 - I got the job I had the interview for on Friday!! I'd convinced myself that they were really looking for studenty-type people, so there you go!! I start on 8th July and obviously won't get paid until later in the month, so not out of the woods yet, but it's a step in the right direction.
Thing 2 - the blog I write has just become #12 in a list of 'Top 20 blogs for Women over 50'!!!! Seriously chuffed to bits about it. It's here - https://middleagedfreeandsingle.com/ if you fancy having a look.
Meanwhile, back in real life -
- the remnants of the washing that didn't quite dry yesterday are hanging on the clothes horse waiting for me to decide if they've dried overnight or need to stay there a bit longer. Determined not to use the tumble dryer except in an emergency.
- I'm continuing to apply for 'proper' jobs (the job I've just got is really just over the summer, although it's a foot in the door).
- My first mileage claim for my volunteering has been approved, so there should be some money hitting my account in the next couple of days.
- main meals this week will continue to be from freezer stores - last night it was chilli with couscous, very nice. Sausages tonight - think I might make toad-in-the-hole, as I have a lot of milk and some out-of-date flour!!! Oh, and some onion gravy to go with it. Now we're talking.
- I had to let my cleaner go. I know it sounds crazy to still have a cleaner when I'm counting every penny, but she'd been coming to me for years (since I had a bad hip and struggled to carry the hoover up and down the stairs) - and at the end of the day it wasn't her fault my husband decided to leave!! I wanted to keep her as long as I could, and if the lodger had worked out she'd have actually got more work as she would have been cleaning for him as well! Anyway, difficult decision, but the sensible one in the end. I was paying her £13.50 an hour for 2 hours a week, so I'm saving £27 a week, which is not to be sniffed at.
Hoping this dratted rain will clear up and go away soon as I'm supposed to be going out in 45 minutes!!! Could take the car, but parking is always an issue where I'm going, plus the train fare is cheaper than the parking, assuming I can find somewhere to park. But station platforms are always miserable in the rain!!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Hi all, lots of LS going on here but not managing NSDs - just paid postage for a parcel to DD2 at uni yesterday and small spends today on veg and a drink later with colleague from another organisation. She offered to meet me re my FT job's horribleness

DD1 and I have been eating from stores and eating healthily too.
Went to exercise class yesterday but pay in chunks so didn't cost me. Not managed gym but have been walking.
Heating is on at work and I am enjoying feeling cosy and listening to the rain while I eat my warming salad!
Trailing - I will look at your blog as I am free single and over 50! Well done
take care everyone

Afternoon all
Not much of a list from me today as ds2 had a hospital appointment (first thing this morning so no snacks needed or bought!) The consultant was happy with his blood results, his meds are doing what they should and his height/weight and pulse were good. Always such a relief to get these appointments out of the way, as I always sleep badly in the run up to them! About three months before he's due an appointment for his other condition so I can relax for a bit now!
other small things...
Met a friend for a catch up, I had a cuppa but didn't buy a cake to go with it - they have the most wonderful lemon cheese cake.... but I resisted!
Made families lunches for tomorrow
Bought Fathers day cards from card factory rather then pay expensive prices I saw them in Mr T for.
All meals from stores well freezer actually as ds1 accidentally left the freezer door open a little last night! Luckily there wasn't much in there, but we've had breakfast and lunch out of it already and tonight we're going to have some breaded fish with peas, swede and sweetcorn so that nothing goes to waste!
Booked somewhere to take my dad to for lunch at the weekend for Fathers day, going to go on Saturday instead so that I can use some clubcard vouchers to help pay for it
Works out well for me as my dad isn't keen on this places sunday carvery but loves their normal lunch time menu
Congrats on the job offer Trailing
Dnms, I hope your interview went well.
Clf & Deni hope the work situation improves
Ccl, hope you're doing ok with exam season!
Take care one and all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Dawn W and 1LL - thank you

I had a helpful chat with my colleague. I have made big efforts recently to change my attitude to my FT work situation by not letting it get to me and not dwelling on work issues at the weekend.
On the MSE front I charged my laptop in work today.
When I got home I found that DD1 had switched the heating on and then gone out! So the heating went off at once !!
I've done quite a few UGov surveys recently and some SB ones. Also bought DD1's birthday presents via £co and my pot is building up nicely.
take care everyone
