What small DFW things will you do w/c 10th June?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

DNMS thank you for starting this weeks thread :A

Over the last fortnight it has been very wet with only the occasional ray of sunshine. The grass and weeds are loving it, I on the other hand am not. Our garden is developing jungle tendencies and I have had no opportunity to deal with it.

I also need the sun to shine so I can get my mojo back.

The chimney sweep is coming today, the price is discounted as it is summer.

    Todays plans:
    PAD
    Record all spends
    Check bank accounts
    PMP etc
    Make bread
    Make porridge
    Clean and tidy fridge
    Write shopping list
Go shopping and only buy what is on the list
    Put ALL the shopping away
    .B/L/D from stores
Take snacks and drinks to training
    Home educate children
Stain treatment on a few bits of laundry before washing
    Dry washing on the airer
    Keep up with emails
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

    Morning all :)
Chilly last night and heavy rain forecast for today. Where has summer gone? :(It stayed dry all morning, contrary to expectations, but has been raining hard all afternoon, and still is.
Anyway, today should look like this:
HG strawberries with my breakfast cereal :)
Need to sort out my sales unit this morning, so must find some items to put in it - would have done this last night, but helped DD with her tax return instead  Done, was pleasantly surprised by lots of gaps where things had sold :D
RM unaddressed mail survey (putting this here so I don't forget!) Done
Stuff in fridge for lunch and dinner, not much cooking needed today Done, had HG salad leaves and spring onions with our salad :)
Ought to make a cake or some scones though! Made scones
    Also cleaned bathroom :)
    Checked banks :)
    Not spent anything :D

Still need to put some stuff away and update spreadsheet!

Will add more as the day progresses!

    Happy Monday all.

The forecast reckons it's going to rain all day today - but right now this minute we've got blue skies and sunshine, so I've put a load of washing on the line and will be watching the weather like a hawk for signs that it's clouding over. And, as I'm an optimistic soul, I've got another load in the machine that'll be ready to hang out in 30 minutes! Even if they don't dry completely, they'll be better for having had a bit of time in the fresh air. Washing nearly dry and - because I like to live dangerously - I've put a third load in. And the third load was just about dry before the rain started!!

This week I'm going to be mostly living out of the freezer - there's enough in there to make main meals for a week - which meant that my shopping for this week has been the princely sum of £7.90. Also, because I'm rubbish at even thinking about remembering to mark the contents on the tubs, I don't know what I'll be eating. Surprise!! I know there's chicken in pasta sauce, chilli, and curry - but they all look the same once they're frozen!!

Today I will be mostly re-writing my CV. A colleague at the place I volunteer very kindly offered me some interview coaching, and suggested some changes to my CV, so I'll be doing that today. I'm not very good at blowing my own trumpet - but as Blackadder once said, 'You could at least have told us you have a trumpet'. Need to be a bit more bullish. Which isn't easy when your confidence is in your boots - but maybe I can do it on paper even if I'm not feeling it. Fake it till you make it!! Done. I sound blumin' fabulous.

    Right - best get on.

    xx

    Morning folks!

trailing - I had to laugh at the Blckadder quote :D

DNMS - thanks for starting us off

I was totally zonked last night. Slept like a log. In fact I nearly nodded off on the couch which is unheard of!

    Today's mission:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores. Work through veg mountain in fridge.
:heartpuls Log cals in free app and STICK to them (last week not very good)
:heartpuls Remain calm and LISTEN in meeting this afternoon. Work situation where the truth of the situation is a bit disappointing but I seem to be the only one pragmatic enough to see truth.
:heartpuls Poss cast on sock. Was far to tired to think last night
    :heartpuls Check garden
    :heartpuls No alcohol
    :heartpuls Charge phone in work
:heartpuls Walk at lunchtime. DO NOT buy anything.

    Have a good one all

Morning all and thanks for the starter Dnms.

I'm going to do a Ta-Dah list today as I'm not sure what I'm going to even attempt today!!

    So far
    # ys bread for ds1s breakfast
    # all sockets switched off that aren't in use - don't need to see the time on the oven or microwave all day! small things eh!
    # wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash (need to hang out next)
    # ds2 to free school breakfast club
    # gym session done and refilled water bottle twice
    # hang washing out
    # froze some more ys bread bought yesterday for 5p a loaf :) great for ds1s breakfasts
    #

    # update ds2s health log ready for hospital appointment tomorrow (info needs transferring from my note pad to the hospital paperwork ) done
    # rm survey
    # check banking/update spreadsheets done
    # remind ds1 to transfer money for a game he wanted
    # cleaned bathrooms/toilets & shower room down with stardrops and microfibre cloths
    # triaged the fruit bowl as a nectarine wasn't looking great - tasted lovely though!
    # put on some loud music this morning (Take That - Circus album) not listened to it in ages and its definitely helped my mood and motivation this morning!
    # put a 2nd small load in the washing machine on the express 20min wash (will hang out as the weather for the rest of the week looks bad)
    # triaged veggie drawer in the fridge, chopped some carrots for families lunch boxes for tomorrow, finely chopped some bendy celery that I've then frozen in with a bag of diced carrot that I plan to put in to make a fish pie later in the week. Chopped green peppers that we'll never eat raw into a bag in the freezer for cooking with.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the kick off DNMS!

    Big hellos to everyone else!

I'm just trying to sort through our spends but OH has gone and done it this time... Bought something at £800 (!!!) and was going to do a money transfer and then pay it off, but alas, when he came to do the transfer (after buying the thing) the deal had expired... So now we've got an unplanned £800 spend this month, but in good news we have less credit card debt...So I'm trying to suck it up and not get too annoyed. Thanks to YNAB I should be able to juggle bits and pieces I guess...just not what the money was meant to be being set aside for... :(Bleeding heck, I've just reconciled our budgets by tweaking a few little categories and we've still got £6.5k saved for yearly expenditure/mat leave coverage.:D

    Here's me:
    - Check banking/YNAB/deal with horrendous spends
    - Batch cooking - using up veg in a gratin thingy
    - Eating leftovers - free quiche M&D brought round when they were here for me and pasta bake for OH :D
    - OH is coming home for lunch so saving the chance of any lunch time spends ;)
    - Ordered reusable wet wipes rather than disposable - v excited about not having to use wet wipes :rotfl:
    - Walking rather than using the car - fingers crossed it doesn't rain as I've not got decent waterproof footwear...
    - Need to call garage about free car repair - being recalled because something wrong with the airbag

Many thanks for starting us off DNMS

I have been reading along (had a catch up last night) even though I haven't had chance to post

1LL I hope DS is doing better
trailingspouse sorry to hear about the job but good about the interview techniques

I've been busy tying up loose ends pre surgery and as fast as I tie them up more come along! Also lots of hospital stuff going on at the minute as other specialists are inputting into the surgery so it is very bitty.

Very spendy time but not as bad as LaE! DD has been getting into her gardening and plants have been bought-from the market rather than garden centre as better value. Also have just had to pay for the garden waste collection service that I was hoping I wouldn't need this year but the way the garden is being restructured we now need it.
Garden lights have also been bought-made sure we looked around for the best deals.

Have been doing some decluttering but not much and one of the cats decluttered me of £300 for her teeth last week. Post teeth check up had, everything good.
    Banking all checked
    Quidco checked
    Weather good so washing out
DW emptied and filling back up nicely.
Eating up alot of bits from the fridge and freezer at the minute
Still haven't written letter to friend-really must do
Trying to sort out car service for Wednesday
Have started to put some Christmas shoeboxes together. Had an awful lot of things left over from last year, DD brought some boxes back with her and found some nice cheap big bars of Tesc@ chocolate with a very good shelf life so to keep me out of mischief I've been putting some of these together and reducing the big bag of bits.

That's about it for now, I'm sure I've missed some things out.
Have a lovely day everyone x.
