  • Hi Dancing,

I am so sorry to hear about your relative, I hope you are all doing ok under the circumstances such a worrying time for you all, but sounds like she has a lot of love and support around her. Sending a virtual hug to you.

You are doing so well and with everything going on you still are on it - upmost respect to you and I will continue to cheer you on from the sidelines. I am sure you will nail your target to be under £10k in January 2020 you are very focused - you will boss it.

    Take care

  • Thank you for the lovely comments, much appreciated x

Quiet weekend spending time with family and, as the sun made a welcome appearance yesterday, we took advantage and took the boys to a local seaside town for the day. It's becoming our go-to place on a sunny day. It's perfect as doesn't get too crowded but there's plenty for us all to do and it's becoming a family tradition that we share some chips & ice creams while we're there. It was a lovely afternoon and did us all the world of good after the stresses of last week.

The boys also spent time making cards and pictures for our poorly relative as they're really missing her (usually see her quite often but she's not well enough to see them at the moment), hopefully won't be too long until they're reunited as she'd missing them too.

Have increased our grocery budget so that I can make poorly relative and immediate family one or two meals per week, just doubling up when I cook a stew, soup, Bolognese, etc and dropping it round so they have one less thing to think about. It's not much but at least I feel like I'm doing something useful to help and it seems to be appreciated.

DH gets paid tomorrow so nearly spreadsheet update time again :)

DS1's old bedroom is finally getting redecorated this week by our decorator friend. He's been really busy so had to be patient but can't wait for it to be done so that the furniture and other items belonging to the room can finally be put back. They've been in our living room, master bedroom and hallway the last 4 weeks so can't wait to have my house back to normal!

If there's anything I find we no longer need as I'm emptying boxes then I think I'll be giving it to the charity shop or putting aside to sell at a later date, I'm not in the right head space to be dealing with the time and hassle that can come from this, same goes for surveys at the moment. I'm sure I'll get back to them but I'm taking a step back for the time being.

    Take care everyone x

Sometimes getting rid as opposed to selling is good :)

  • I agree Beanie, a few bits have gone in the bin already! The room is all painted now so just waiting for the woodwork to dry then we can make a start on putting everything back in the room.

Regular £50 payment to the family loan went out today, brings me back below my starting figure on this after I added on the money my Mum gave us a few weeks ago :o

More excitingly, this payment means that I have paid just over £2000 off the debt total since starting my diary on May 1st, signature updated & I'm so delighted with this, without checking in here regularly think I'd have continued floating along with minimum payments (£170 per month) so thank you everybody who's cheered me on, cheers to you all

    Hope everyone is well x

Well done, that is fantastic progress to clear over 2k.
  • Morning all, DS2 teething (again :( ) so this is the third day of us being up at 5am. Managed to sneak him downstairs each day without waking DS1 or DH so we're just enjoying some snuggles on the sofa.

I've worked a full week this week, not ideal but had a tight deadline to meet & on the plus side I've accrued enough extra hours to be able to be off when DH goes into hospital later this month so will be worth it.

The plus side of working all week is we haven't spent anything apart from paying the usual work related parking so the bank accounts are looking healthy. The down side is the spare room still hasn't been put back together & I have a mountain of laundry. This weekend will be spent getting this sorted plus a grocery shop is desperately needed. Just did a couple of TT's from our banc accounts so that's another £7 sent across to CC1.

DH had a gig last night so letting him have a lie in, going to take the boys out for a walk to the park. Hopefully DS2 can nap & DS1 can let off some steam before helping us with some chores later (he's a champion loader/unloader of the washing machine & pretty awesome at low level dusting :D ).

Also got a couple of meals to make for my poorly family member, sadly we've had confirmation this week that the tumour isn't curable so treatment is all about prolonging quality of life for as long as possible :( it's just so heartbreaking as she's so young but she's being incredibly brave & stoic about it all, she's amazing :heartpuls

We're still waiting to hear the outcome of the biopsy my aunt had, keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome.

Hope all is well with everyone, wishing you all a lovely weekend xx

    Hi Dancing,

Well done on paying 2k off the debt. :j

Sorry to hear about your relative, that's really sad. :( I hope she can have a good quality of life as long as possible.

Glad to hear that DS1 is a good help with the chores. :D My DS also likes to load/unload both the washing machine and tumble dryer. :)
