Options
Hi,

Does anyone know the best route from Stoke to Nantwich for someone who is a nervous driver and wants to avoid dual carriageways?

Thanks

Tricky, the A500 goes straight there but is a dual carriageway.

Try heading along the Nantwich road through Butter's Green, Audley, Balterly Hough & Blakelowe.

Just setting up your SatNav to avoid the A500 should do it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

A525 to Woore, then A51. Both fast single-carriageways.

    I would take a dual-carriageway route.

I was 42 when I passed my driving test and I initially found dual-carriage ways less stressful than "fast single-carriageways".

EDIT: I think they're easier. Stay in the left lane as much as you can and try to keep up to the speed limit. 60mph on a DC is less demanding than 50 on a national speed limit SC - if you are a nervous (perhaps slow?) driver you don't need to worry so much about people queuing up behind you to overtake. Oh - and remember not all DCs are 60mph.

maybe they should take more lessons to be a more able, competent driver. That sounds mean I know but I cannot help but feel that they may not be safe on the road if this is such an issue.

Indeed. The default limit is 70.

Yes - my choice too. Out through 'castle, Keele, Madeley, Onnerley then in Woore, on the 51 to Nantwich

Unless you want to cut through via Wrinehill/Checkley, but it's a bit twisty and narrow that way!

Go A500. If they don't ever go on dual carriageways they'll never get over their nervousness. Get on the A500, find a lorry in L1, sit behind it, job done.
