I agree. I highly doubt any court case would be successful where someone has failed to replace what is a consumable item in the time specified and this has led to failure or damage. IMO Audi should have asked for how much it would cost to replace a cam belt and offered to do the rest at their expense. Instead OP get's their cake and to eat it, which is fair enough I suppose.
Certainly, the message from this thread should NOT be leave your cam belt as it is, wait till it snaps, then threaten to sue the car's manufacturer. The message should be to replace it as the manufacturer specifies and to avoid damage in the first place.0
