Gap is Back - Time to Knuckle Down

Oh Lou, boyfriend says they're lovely. I haven't tasted them because they weren't ready until just before tea was ready and I didn't want to spoil it for myself. I'm so stuffed now I can't fit one in. Need to wait until tomorrow. I put feta in them this time (like they're supposed to have!)
. He's away home with two.
I don't normally let anyone try anything I bake until I've tasted it myself because I know how carp I am. Funny thing is though, right after I mentioned that on here the other day I saw something on tv where the person said "Baking is a science, cooking is an art." I think I get it. I'm going to try so much harder nowMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Yeah, the muffins are not bad. I'm pleased
The third cc bill came in today so I've paid that off. That's them for another month. When I transfer the money from the appropriate budget account to the cc account I round it up to the nearest £1 so this month I had £8.21 over after paying off all 3. I have transferred that to a savings account which I'm using for a challenge I saw on the challenges board that I am unofficially joining in with.
Had lunch at work today. Quite often they have training courses over lunchtimes and to [STRIKE]bribe[/STRIKE] encourage people to go they provide lunch. Most of us go for the sandwiches but actually I've learned a huge amount from attending.
Boyfriend's bank account has been hacked so the bank have cancelled his card and he's waiting for the new one but it probably won't arrive until the weekend. He only has one bank account and one card so to get money out he'll have to go in to the branch. I've said he can come to mine for tea tonight so I'm going to pop to the store and get potatoes and we'll have baked tatties. LMG is working late tonight so it will just be the two of us. I have a birthday card to pick up too so another small spend day today. I have 4 items to get so I'll put my head down and not look at anything else haha.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

...£11.53 later, oops
I bought butter too because it was on offer. We (I) get through a lot of butter and I like a particular kind. It was right next to the coleslaw that I went in to get so I didn't go searching for it. I bought two birthday cards and a thank you card. I keep forgetting the thank you card so I'll get that written today and posted tomorrow. I also bought a container for the muffins as they are currently in a large sandwich bag. Plus I bought the potatoes and a small dessert for tonight (both on the original list of 4).Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

You're doing so well
What a pain in the a$$ about boyfriend's bank account, hope it's not too painful getting it all sorted out.
I really must make those muffins too....:rotfl:

It's a bit of a pain for him not having immediate access to cash but the bank were good, cancelled his card right away, told him to check his bank account regularly over the next week or so for any other odd transactions and have emailed today to say the new card is on its way. It only happened yesterday. It was a really, really odd thing that happened. He was charged £7.99 for a subscription for a premium service from a company named after a rainforest but he doesn't have an account with them. He called them too and they said that the email address he was providing didn't match the email address registered to the account that the money was used to pay for. They wouldn't tell him the email address (he wanted to see if he recognised it as his daughter's or someone else he knows) but they refunded the money right away.
I've told him to think of all the money he's saving! He has £2 in his pocket and he's making a point of holding on to it "in case of emergencies" :rotfl:

Treated LMG and myself to an ice cream tonight. It's nice to get to spend some time with her. It was just the two of us when she was growing up and we spent loads of time together. Now she's grown up and I miss that time. £6 transferred from the Slush Fund to the cc account. £6 for two ice creams!!
£11.35 left on the Asda card and £12 left in the cash grocery budget. I have nothing to buy tonight or tomorrow and it's payday on Friday so it looks like I might actually have some money left over this month. Wow!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

That's a lovely way to look at it. I'll work on that
I bought a set of bathroom scales a year ago and they worked fine at first but then went a bit funny. They would weigh me at what I thought I was then I would step off, let them reset, step on again and I was 3-4lbs lighter. Every time. I know that is everyone's ideal scales but for me it's really not. I was going through some paperwork yesterday that I clearly haven't touched in a yearand I found the receipt! Quick check on the manufacturer's website and if bought within a year I could take them back to the place I bought them, under guarantee. Took them back today and they didn't have any replacements so gave me a full refund! I have ordered a new set online (different ones) and they are half the price of the ones I had so it's a win today
It's a lovely day here. I'm thinking about going out to sit in the garden for a couple of hours. I did a few things in the house yesterday so I don't feel too guilty, plus I fancy continuing with the book I'm reading. It's a money book so it's relevant here.
Just me for tea tonight and according to the meal plan it's risotto again.
I've just spotted that I don't have anything on the meal plan for tomorrow night because I'm out for dinner on Saturday night, put that in Friday's slot by mistake and haven't filled Saturday because tomorrow is payday (have I mentioned that before?) so new budget. I'm sure I can rustle something up without hitting the shops. I have some stuff in the cupboards and it's just me again so it should be quite easy. New meal plan needs to start again on Monday as we're at the folks' for tea on Sunday. Ooh, I'll do that in the garden!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Payday! All pots topped back up.
I had £12 left in cash grocery budget and £11.35 left on Asda card. First time I've hade money left at the end of the month in the grocery budget instead of the other way around. I transferred the £12 to the challenge account plus a further £10 from the new grocery budget, topped up the Asda card with £40 and put £150 cash in the grocery account so grocery budget back up at £200 (or £201.35 to be exact). If I get the usual maintenance this month that will go in too.
Smallish spend today: £7.93 from grocery budget, but that included some medical stuff, and £6.98 from Slush Fund for a card and balloon. Both amounts have been rounded up and paid across to cc account.
I called to book my car in for a service at the dealership. They want £216.98It's got a 5 year warranty and I want to keep that intact but that is so much money. I don't know how much a service is normally (had the last car 13 years and never serviced it once
). Well at least there's money in the budget for it.
I sat out in the garden for an hour yesterday and it was brilliant. I put some music on quietly and drifted off a wee bit. Came back in and made the risotto for tea. I was in bed at a decent time too. I felt like I was kind to myself yesterday and it was actually nice.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
