LJD1 Hi hunI personally would simply not reply to the text message, just ignore it. Do you have any idea where he got your number from? Do you advertise anywhere? Can't offer much more advise but you have been clever in saving the number and recognising the same message.

    Thanks Dustykitten
It's just nice to know someone's thinking the same as me. Yes, I have advertised in the yellow pages in the past but didn't think i'd put my mobile in there. Also, i've never advertised under 'massage'. Aren't some people total............! It's just freaky because he uses my name. I just don't get what kicks he's getting from it, wierdo! Thanks again xx

LJD1 - i think you may be able to report him as it is surely harassment. only other thought i have is to get a male you know to phone his number from a withheld number (141 first) and tell him that you have made yourself clear and you do not want to hear from him again. it's a tough one and i'm not sure my advice is right, but i'd certainly be speaking to the police for advice (when i got anonymous nasty letters they were very helpful). is your address on any of your publicity? If not then that's a good thing and remember if you are locked in your house you are safe. to be honest it sounds like a w*nker to me, not that that helps you much.

LJD not sure I can offer practical advise but sending you a hug from me, like Dusty says good job that you sussed him straight away. Have you kept the previous messages? If so your mobile company might be able to help. I am sure BT has some sort or reporting structure for malicious/stalking/dodgy type calls which this would come under, bet the mobile networks do something similar. Is he likely to know your address? If so then you have grounds to call the police and report it, tell them you are home alone and concerned for your safety. Make them open a log and report all attempts to contact you. I also would not reply to the message. Trust your gut instinct and report this jerk.

Mmmm, bit worried now. I've just checked my old advert and the larger one that I placed hasn't got my address. The free one liner that I never remember checking has my number. I've just locked all the doors but no one's turned up in two months so i'm probably all right. Imagination overload right now, lol xx

Edited to say: that should read the free one liner has my address and my number.

i am sure it is just some idiot with no life trying to freak you out (((hugs)))
i used to get people ringing my doorbell in the middle of the night thinking my place was a brothel (funny yes but not in the middle of the night on your own), but at the end of the day the thing to remember is you're safe inside the house.

Thanks everyone. It makes me feel a lot better to have talked about it. I'm going to give the phone company a ring in the morning and tell them about it and change my number. Peace of mind will be worth the hassle of changing the number. All I need now is identity fraud from this child allowance mix up to really make my day! Oh well, at least I have a clean house! xx

  • Hi, LJD1
how scary! if I were you i would write down all the relevant details you can remember, keep a record of all the texts etc, tell your husband (if you haven't already) and phone the police. I'm sure there must be a way of them or the phone company tracing the calls. i agree with rach that it must class as harassment. good luck and try not to worry too much!

  • Evening everyone!

lil-me - My car was broken into once and the glass did keep turning up for months afterward - difficult to get to in the runners where the seat adjusts. Big hugs ..

LJD1 - I can understand why you're worried about this. I think I'd probably look into trying to block the number to start with, but it might be worth popping into your police station for some advice as well.

Here was my plan for today:

    [STRIKE] 6am swish/swipe bathroom
Put towels in w/m and put out clean towels
    Work 11.5 hours
When I get home: Tumble towels[/STRIKE]
Make dinner Had fish and chips :o
[STRIKE] Vacuum hall and lounge (level 1)
    Choir
    Menu plan
    Internet shop[/STRIKE]

I am so, SO proud of myself!

    rumbly x
