Have just been informed that this can take between 4-6 weeks to maybe get our money back!!! Is this right??
Best they can do is offer a loan to tide us over Christmas!!
Surely the onus is on the banks to sort this out quickly,as through no fault of our own we are the ones who are going to have to budget through Christmas on the chance that we may get our money back.
Should I go in to the branch and threaten to close my account?? Any suggestions?
'Fraid not - your wife chose to use an ATM that did not belong to her bank.
You now have to wait until the other bank ATM is checked and balanced - they will also check the roll to see if anything went wrong with the machine at that time.
If the machine does not balance and is found to be over you will get your money back.
If the machine does balance and the roll shows that the money was dispensed you may not.

I got a 50 dollar bill in mine once instead of a 20. Since I asked for 200 dollars counted the number and when I went home realised one was a different colour. I am afraid I didn't tell them

Are you talking about US dollars?
I thought that they were all the same size and colour.
