Cash Machine Robbed Me Of £140!!

  • Just to clarify something, the atm does not record every transaction with a card that was mentioned earlier but the atm when balanced should show a difference in the cash received and therefore it should be refunded fairly quickly. If notes had been left in the machine, ie retracted then that would be recorded on the atm roll as notes retracted.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

I think it depends on the cashpoint. During my banking days I handled a number of different cashpoint machines and each was different in how it reported things. One didnt record failed transactions to the account, another did and showed a contra entry that day or next working day (if weekend).

Just to update you all , we are still waiting for the money to be credited to my wifes account!!
Surely 2 weeks is a long enough wait, or are we being impatient? I would have thought they would check the ATM on a daily basis (apart from weekends). So as yet my wife is still not sure of getting the money returned:mad:
    Any advice please.

Used to be but even when I was working in a bank back in the early 90s, they moved to a weekly balance. When its not your own bank or branch it takes longer.

Withdrew £20 on Friday, and only £15 received from atm. filled out a form and they said the fiver would be credited to my account. I DID have a receipt thank goodness and I suggest everybody obtain one just in case...Tuesday at the latest they said, will let you know. Never ever happened to me before: just shows how those Gremlins work;)

Must try that; it always says multiples of 10 on other machines.

Many banks do - but normally only in area where there is a high concentration of students, near universities etc or perhaps in areas they think have lots of low income/benefit claimants..
