    ^and DO obtain that receipt

No need for a receipt, I think.. ?

The ATM machine will have made a record of how much money they believe they have issued you - if the ATM has the wrong currency in it.. they would pick up on this as you wouldn't be the only person affected..

I've never seen a £5 machine ever, maybe people in Scotland have enough money to afford a £10 withdrawal!!!!!!!!

Tonight the 2 local machines had ran out of £10 and were only offering £20, and no receipts.

I havent seen a machine dispense fivers in a years. I know they still exist but they used to be put in the less well off areas where withdrawals were of smaller values. High turnover machines had to be filled with 10s and 20s (and 50s in same areas) to stop them running out over weekends as there is only so much space in the hoppers.

  • Barclays Bank in Bangor North Wales still dispenses fivers.

How can a receipt possibly help? It will show how much you asked for, but not how much you got - you could just pocket half your withdrawal and go into the bank whinging..?

Doesn't cost you anything, but it's a piece of paper saved...

Have just been informed that this can take between 4-6 weeks to maybe get our money back!!! Is this right??
Best they can do is offer a loan to tide us over Christmas!!
Surely the onus is on the banks to sort this out quickly,as through no fault of our own we are the ones who are going to have to budget through Christmas on the chance that we may get our money back.
Should I go in to the branch and threaten to close my account?? Any suggestions?
