Lift not working at Torbay Hotel

When we arrived at Shearings Torbay Hotel in Torquay today we were informed the lift was not working.and it was unlikely to be repaired this week. Our room was on the top floor and they did move us down a floor but we are still having to negotiate 3 floors of stairs which we are fining extremely difficult. Leaving us short of breath. We are on a self drive holiday and wanted to be in the centre of Torquay. They did offer to move us to Paignton.we are struggling and are not sure what we can do. Can we claim compensation or leave and get a full refund.

Why don't you take up their offer and move to Paignton? Is that hotel of an equal standard?0

I'd certainly take the offer of a move to Paignton rather than have to put up with the Stag and Hen parties that descend on Torquay town centre. We lived in Torquay for a number of years and wished we'd chosen Paignton instead.0

Wildebeest roaming majestically across the plains....0

Don't stay where you are not comfortable, get them to move you right away0

Maybe OP will see wildebeest seeing as it's not a UK holiday.0

Obviously need to visit Paignton Zoo, mind you some of the outfits and wild behaviour that form the Hen & Stag groups parties would put any Zoo to shame.0

If you need a lift, why are you not staying in a lift that has more ham one. All lifts break down at some point. If having a lift is vital, you need to pick you hotels more carefullly. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

You have to remember that this was a Coach holiday and usually the hotels used rarely have more than one lift.0
