    Congrats on the raffle win!:j

It's a good idea to get your hearing checked and hope all will be well.

Hopefully the rain will stop and you and pup can fit in your run.

    Have a good weekend Munchin.

    Morning

I hadn't realised that I'd not posted since the end of August - oops. I've been away a bit and have been busy organising a dinner event for the volunteer thing I do and I have another volunteer dinner to organise in Oct. I will so need my holiday in November to recover.

September turned out to be a spendy month but not frittering. The TV died again and the small freezer we keep in the shed died as well. The TV had been repaired previously so the engineer said that it would be cheaper to buy new than fix it and the freezer was on it's last legs but as we store lots of stewed apples in it at this time of year it had to be replaced. Mum got the freezer replaced and I paid for the TV (£359). The emergency fund is gone and it will empty for a while as I'm concentrating on my holiday spends and building up pots of money to cover Christmas, rates, heating oil etc.

Money front - Debt is still ticking over and hopefully another bit will chip away come Tues (01st Oct), My loan will dip under £3,000 which sounds so much better and my credit card will be down to £650 which will be bearable. I have set the budgets quite tight for Oct but it is doable and I would rather have a bit more towards my holiday in November.

    Health front
    - had a few wobbles in Sept but starting to come out the other side. I also did a 10k run yesterday for the first time in years and was so happy. Tired at end and good knee is niggly this morning but I did it and got the beanie hat to prove it :)

I have a list of chores as long as your arm to do today and I have 2 of them done already (super early to bed last night).

    To do:
    • [STRIKE]update minutes for volunteer meeting [/STRIKE]- done
    • [STRIKE]draft dinner invite for volunteer thing and send to colleague[/STRIKE] - done
    • find hotel details for friend - cant remember where I stayed but still searching for a clue
    • Ironing
    • Tidy room & living room
    • Make protein balls
    • Walk dog
    • Weed Dad's grave
    • Weed garden
    • Lunch :)

I might not get as far as the garden as I would like to put feet up for a bit as well :)
  • Nice to have you back posting Munchin. How did your hearing test go back in August?

Your EF has taken a bashing but at least you had it to pay for the new tv and you can build it up again after Christmas hopefully :).

    Hi

HHD - hearing test went well but I have a audio processing issue which I’ve had a long time and the increase in teleconferencing doesn’t help but at least now I know my hearing itself is good.

So another few weeks have skipped past without posting but I’ve caught up with all the diaries I follow. I think life gets in the way and my money mojo wandered away for a bit. Still overpaying on credit card and making loan repayments but haven’t felt like doing anything extra.

I went and got my holiday jabs this week and my arm throbbed for about 3 days afterwards which was a surprise. I got my visa sorted and I am now hoping all my holiday prep is done. 3 weeks today I will be hanging round London waiting for my connecting flight and I will be away for 3 weeks :).

Work and volunteer thing have both been so busy and hopefully after this week it should finally start to calm down.

Health front - all good, just tired. I have signed up for a 10k & and a 4 miler - I will still be at the back but I enjoy it.

So that’s me all caught up and away to read some new diaries. Have a great week ahead.

    Morning

2 weeks to holiday :). I was out for dinner last night and this morning I’m meeting a friend for breakfast and tomorrow I’m running a 5k road race - a lovely fun packed weekend :).

I have a cold starting and I keep hoping it will come to nothing but each morning it seems a bit worse.

Money front - I do the 1p a day challenge but am going to switch to monthly and I’ve added the totals for the month below so I don’t forget.

    month 1 - £108.50
    Month 2 - £90.21
    Month 3 - £89.74
    month 4 - £78.15
    month 5 - £71.30
    month 6 - £59.85
    month 7 - £52.39
    month 8 - £42.78
    month 9 - £32.25
    month 10 - £23.87
    month 11 - £13.95
    month 12 - £4.96

    total = £667.95

Just caught up with your goings on!

Hope the cold doesn't materialise into something too bad and it doesn't affect your run today. Good luck!

You've done really well on the money challenge. Every little helps!:D

Thanks SSG - cold doesn't seem to be materialising so maybe it's just a bug & will disappear soon.

My brunch out with a friend was lovely and then my run yesterday - despite all my nerves - was good and the fastest I have run in a long time. I'm a bit achy today but will be fine tomorrow.

Holiday front - I spent £34 today on an airport lounge - I have 9 or 10 hours between my flight into heathrow and my flight out. I can kill plenty of time getting between terminals and lunchtime but after that it will be nice to have somewhere hopefully quiet to wait before my flight. It looks like you can only spend 3 hours in the lounge so there will be plenty of pootling around the airport to kill time.

I have my pup booked in for a groom this week and extra dog food bought to tide him over while I'm away. I wonder if it's mad to skype him when I'm gone :o.

I read Allen Carr's get out of debt book yesterday - it's hopefully made me more aware of the old debt monster I keep returning to. I have almost cleared my credit card and I think I have now brought my debt free date forward to May next year. My aim is to be credit card free by the end of the year and loan free by May. After that money has to be set aside for savings - emergency fund, car (current one has a while yet but best to have the funds to replace) & money to rewire the house. First aim is clear debt and save £1000 in emergency fund.

Work is really quiet because of mid term but I will not knock it.

Well done on your run yesterday! The airport lounge is a good idea - I've done these before.

I'm sure pup will recognise your voice if you skype him - mind you he'll be a bit confused and wonder where you actually are!:rotfl:

    Good money targets too!

    Morning all,

I’m currently on my holiday of a lifetime in Sri Lanka & I am loving life:D. I’m staying with friends who live here so am seeing the true side of the country and not just the tourist side. We have done so much and have so much planned for week ahead but also plenty of time for relaxing. I spent 2 days in Columbo when I arrived and am now at my friends beach front house. This weekend we are heading northwards to visit Sigiriya, Temple of the sacred tooth relic, safari & a million other things. I’m well within budget because I’ve not had accommodation costs but just chipped in with food & drink. I will have hotel costs from tomorrow for 1 week but I can’t complain. I think that with the cost of flights, spending money and hotel costs I will have spent less than £2,000 which is amazing for my 3 weeks and what I had budgeted :).

I’m thankfully missing all the early Xmas build up and will only be getting back on 1st Dec - which is the right time to be getting into the Xmas mood. My Mum sends me pics of my pup who is also having a ball being spoilt rotten :).

I went for an Ayurveda consultation & massage (bliss) and am using time away to put thoughts in order. Ultimately I need a less stressful life where the focus is less on work and more on fun.

This morning, while waiting for everyone to wake up, I’m back to budgeting & reading diaries. My focus is becoming debt free, saving to come back here next year & doing more for me in 2020. Far too early to be thinking of new year resolutions but it would be nice to end 2020 with no debt, money in the bank and more fun memories.

  • I'm so pleased you're having the holiday of a lifetime Munchin. It sounds fabulous!

You're right in that getting back on 1 December is just the right time to start the Christmas spirit. I wish it would go back to when I was young and the Christmas run-up didn't begin till after November 5th!

Glad to hear you received good vibes from your Ayurveda session.
