Thanks SSG & HHD - thank goodness my sister recovered but unfortunately my friends dad died. I’m sure everyone knows someone suffering from the virus. Hope everyone is keeping safe.
I am working from home and am managing to keep busy but really miss social interaction. On the positive side my nephews pop over and shout in the window at my mum every other day. Pup and I have the country roads to ourselves and I have chatted more to friends in England than I’ve done for years. I’ve read so much and don’t have an hour long commute each morning.
Guess we will keep plodding on 🙂1 -
I'm so very sorry to hear the sad news of your friend's father Munchin, but what a tremendous relief to your family that your sister has recovered.Yes WFH is good that is makes the day go faster in these lockdown times - although I am speaking to colleagues on the phone it's still rather weird.Bless your nephews for shouting through the window. It must cheer up your mum no end!😀. And I hear you re. the empty roads, chatting to long lost friends and family and the daily grind of the commute. The one thing I don't seem to have caught up with so much is my reading. I'm going to have to stop looking at the box so much in the evenings!Have a good day Munchin and I hope you and pup have a good run today. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thanks SSG - sorry I thought I had posted more recently but it doesn’t look like it... oops. So things are good, like everyone there are ups and downs but an amazing up is I’m going to be an aunt again at Xmas.
I must admit in the last month I’ve started to fritter big time so need to get that under control, so I’m back to recording here and attempting to stick to a budget.
it looks like my holiday in Oct May not happen but that is ok - I always have next year🙂
June budget ….very squeaky

Morning
Yesterday was a relaxing day. Pup and I went for a run early and then I did a tiny bit of weeding to feel like I had done something to justify sitting with feet up the rest of the day.
I have set myself a money challenge for a holiday next year. I think because I’m now debt free (but we all know how easily I slip into bad habits 😏) I have frittered money more on wants than needs this last 6 months. I use YNAB and Monzo and have lots of savings automatically set up and if I would just leave them alone then by the end of this year things would be looking good. So challenge 1 - lock all money pots and don’t touch (this covers emergency fund etc).
Challenge 2 - Last year when I went on a long haul flight I couldn’t justify paying for business class over economy. The new challenge is to save up for the difference in economy and business class seats (£1,500 approx). I can’t justify taking it out of existing savings but will do surveys, scrimp my everyday budget (food, fuel, misc). It will be so tight but it would at least be a focus for my frittering and an amazing way to start and end my holiday (holiday not booked but it’s a plan for 2021). I’m hoping this could end the frittering - my goals have been so abstract recently that I have lost focus.
Right - time to start a new day 🙂1 -
