Im a bit nervous maz about saying what I do, I strayed onto the discussion thread one night and mentioned that in my role I sometimes work for the health visitors, they totally attacked me and said that I was lying and that I was illiterate and could not be educated to degree level.
I was devestated they said I was not qualified and I am very proud of my registration, someone even said I should be struck off so im always a bit wary of saying what I do now.
but on the DFW board im amongst friends so I dont mind. (sorry im just still hurting from it all)

That's horrible........there are some nasty people around. (((hugs)))

I've had horrible treatment from people outside of the DFW board sometimes, and tend not to stray far from here if I can help it - although I like the parent club thread too, they're lovely on there.

I'm an underwriter for a bank!

I have a friend who does the same job, in the NHS, however noone likes a non clinical person telling them what they should or shouldn't be doing. The police must be kind of the same i guess.

What a diverse bunch we are!
thats so true, but in the NHS everyone is afraid of change people like to cling on to the past. The populations needs have changed and the NHS has to change to address that. Our chief exec used to be a supermarket manager, he is very nice though.
In the 15 years I worked for the nhs wev had about 8 episodes of "reforms" and modernisation but at grass roots nothing changes.

Awww babes, that's horrid! Don't worry about it, you are amongst friendly peeps here but keep it under your hat if you'd rather.

Edit: Doh! i see you had already stated what you do. Sounds pretty invaluable to me hun!

Bet you're bloody good at it anyroads. And people who "attacked" were probably on the defensive over something they know little about. as is often the case.

it can't be as dreary as my job! that's for sure.

As long as you enjoy it, and you obviously worked hard to get there too.
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Ryan is VERY literal too, sayings really confuse him! He doesn't understand sarcasm, can't read between the lines, can't read other peoples emotions, funny about food, very loud, talks 'at' you, obsessive, hates changes to routine, doesn't cry tears, problems with toilet training, angry outbursts.....LOTS of things.

But he's amazing, bright, brave, funny and totally adorable, and I think the world of him.
He sounds lovely snaggles, I sometimes wonder if children with aspergers are gifted and honest If he does have it he can still have a wonderful life.People just need to be more understanding, my godson could not understand why my son wore a dress for his christening, it totally confused him he stood up and said "he must be a girl he has a dress on" in a very loud voice, in his world girls wear dresses, boys dont, there is no grey area in aspergers.

Oh lol - that would have confused Ryan too!

AND he would have said it VERY loudly, just like your Godson! :rotfl:

Its nothing very interesting.I work for the pct and nhs in a shared role. Most of the time I work on a child and adolescent unit (childrens ward in hospital) but my work with terminally ill and disabled children means that sometimes I work in the community with the health visiting team, im a shift co ordinator and liason.I love working with families of dying and disabled children but when i said that some people said I was patronising (im not) I just admire the strengh of those families and enjoy working with them.
I wasnt prepared for the attack I got, I usually stay on this board and everyone is so nice and non judgemental here.

Oh my god, I can't believe people attacked you for that - you must be a truly amazing person, doing the job you do. I hope it is every bit as rewarding for you as it sounds. I really admire anyone who can do that sort of thing.
