So I trundle into DirectTv's place in Huddersfield,as it's not too far for me,and enquire about buying one of these. It turned out to be a painful experience......

The snotty youth, asked me why I wanted one,and I told him that, for the money,it gets very good reviews on t'internet, and could I have one if they had any in stock. He then proceeds to tell me that the Teco range is better, and that the Teco 37",with freeview, which I don't want,as I have Sky,has a better resolution than the Hanspree. So I ask him what it is,and he tells me that it's 1000:1,hardly better is it?

So I then ask him who is behind the makings of components of the Hanspree, and he tells me HansG. (Their European head office is in Rotterdam.) Fair enough,I think,so I then ask him where the Teco is made, and he says Sweden or Germany.Nice to see his product knowledge is up to scratch then.(It would seem that Teco are Taiwanese, according to what I have read.)

So I tell him that I'm happy with what I want, and I then produce a print out from ClearanceBuys in Tiverton, who are selling it at £10 cheaper than them, and they give free delivery, and will he match the price, and Ill take one now.

He then rings a buyer up in the adjacent offices, after mumbling to me that ClearanceBuys won't be making anything on that price,to which I tell him that as a customer, that is not my problem. He then comes off the phone, and says that they won't match the price,so I politely tell them that customer satisfaction,is obviously not one of their strong points, and I leave.

I am now going to order it from ClearanceBuys, and yes, while I agree the free delivery can take up to 5 days,in most of the articles I've read, people are getting it next day,at no extra cost.

Hi, I have found a Hannspree 37" HD Ready LCD TV from saverstore for £364.60 but I wanted to know if anybody has got any discount codes for this store or have found this TV cheaper anywhere else.

    Thanks
my OH and I bought this and we are thrilled with it.

Well, there is some good news, and some bad news.

    First the good news.

The tv arrived today, which saying as I opted for the free delivery,is excellent.

    Now the bad news.

None of the menus are accessible via either the remote,or set top buttons, and there is no volume as well. And the tv won't turn on/off at the button on the front. To say I'm a little dissapointed,is an understatement.

I have been in touch with Hanspree, and after I e.mailed them my proof of purchase, they cheekily asked me if I would like a repair engineer out to it.You can imagine my reply,on an item that I hadn't had for an hour.

Once they receive new stock, they will contact me to arrange delivery of the replacement.

Has anyone else had any of the problems listed above, and if so,what did you do to remedy the situation?

  • Well sorry to the above poster but we have had all good news so far...

We ordered on Sunday night, delivered on Tues (went for the free 5 day delivery) and so far so good!! We decided before we ordered it would be a it of a gamble, if it was awful we would just get a refund but we seem to have been lucky (fingers crossed...)

i read all the AV Forum thread and it does seem that there are good sets and bad sets... it's a lottery what gets delivered! But here, so far so good - we are very very happy with our bargain!

    Good luck all ?!?

sorry to hear that!! have you contacted ebuyer or just hannspree? worth giving ebuyer a ring if you haven't contacted them yet.
its sounds like its a dodgy set - maybe got chucked about in the delivery van, or just plain old faulty. but don't lose heart - you will be pleased when it's replaced!

I actually got it from Clearance Buys, and heres the crunch:

I will get a new tv,but it is coming direct from Hanspree,as,according to Clearance Buys,Hanspree like to deal with everything once a tv has been sold, even though your contract would be with the seller.

    Strange.

Apart from that,I do like the look of the tv,and can't wait to get it replaced.

Afaik there is a 14day refund with Clearance Buys - My telly broke down after a month and they put me in touch with the manufacturers who were more than helpful to get it sorted...
