I hope im alowed to post this as it is christmas but not really money saving, and im feeling in such a festive mood just wanted to see what other posters do.
I was just wondering when everyone else will decorate their house for christmas? Im spending all this weekend cleaning the house, every coubard draw and everything else i can clean, its my normal november ritual. Next weekend i will get out all my decorations and check them (checked my lights al ready as i had them out for Diwali).
Ill be putting the tree up on dec 1st my best friend and her 5 kids are coming for the weekend. we always make decorations with them in the morning then put the tree up in the afternoon. I buy their advent callanders and they get them after we finish decorating.
Im like a kid over christmas, i still get over excited. Ill also be finishing off wrapping my christmas persents, I have spent a total of £287 for everything. £130 was from pigsback vouchers, £125 was from things i sold on ebay! I cant believe i have done it without increasing my debt, i even have supermarket vouchers and m&s vouchers for those extra special bits, so i dont have to spend a nother penny, my nights out are all payed for with drink money put aside (from ebay sales).
I want to say a huge thankyou to everyone on this site, i cant believe what a good feeling i have this year from joining this site and beginning to reduce my debts.

Hey, well done you! Congratulations on getting everything for Christmas without extending your debt, what an achievment!
Last year I put up all the decorations on the 1st December, but I think they were up for too long - I took them all down again on New Year's Day because I was sick of the sights of them!
So this year my plan is to put up the outside lights on the 1st December then leave it a week or two before putting the tree etc up. Don't know exactly when that will be, I'll see how excited I get (I'm also like a little kid at Christmas!), so when I can't wait any longer, I'll be straight up that loft ladder for the trimmings boxes!

If I got my way, I'd do it today!!! It's only 5 weeks away after all
As we're having a real tree tho, not sure it will last that long so will prolly put the decorations up next weekend. Would have done it on the 1st but we have people over that weekend and i'm so anal about my tree, all my concentration goes on that so i'd end up ignoring them :rotfl:
Next weekend it is then:xmastree:

I'd never do it before 1 December.
After this date, in the past, I've pulled out the old tree (had it since 1990) and the old decs - from about 1990 and when a mate threw a load out in 2000 and gave them to me. But I threw the lot out when I moved.
This year I will be popping out to the discount shops to get a 2' tree (probably fibre optic), bung it in the corner, handful of chocolate gold coins round the bottom, bung some nuts and half a dozen satsumas in a dish, down Woolies for £2.99 Pick N Mix. Job done.
So, as I am busy in the daytime on 1 December, it's likely to be 8 December when I do that.0 -
