    Stop promulgating erroneous information.

Or to be reallly, really pedantic - you can drive in a bus lane for as long as it is clear. However, you are very likely to receive penalty charges for doing so...
I seem to remember it was Michael Winner who said that one of the great things about being rich was that if he got stuck in traffic, for £60 he could in a bus lane and this seemed like a bargain.

Sadly I'm not that rich, but if I was I'd probably ktake the same view.

I was in central London late at night with my (quite wealthy) brother-in-law just after the introduction of the congestion charge. I remarked on how quite the traffic was.

"It's lovely," he remarked. "Roads for the Rich!"

As many as you like outside the hours of operation, which vary from borough to borough, town to town, street to street, block to block.

All notified in tiny print 8ft up so obviously it's your own stupid pathetic fault if you get it wrong.

    Kerching!

What are these "bus lanes" exactly?? Don't exist round our way...

I think they are for those mythical beasts called buses that never venture outside towns and cities. There have been reports of one seen in our village but its never been verified

One of the bus lanes in Blackburn, on a major route into centre is only operative from about 8 - 10 am. the amount of cars that think it's 24 hours is unbelievable, and as you sail past the queue of traffic after this time the amount of dirty looks you get is hilarious.

Well the one near me is rush-hour only -but as z1a says - most people just avoid it at any time. The only thing to be wary of is that you can be tempted to go over 30 as you filter past...

Never had any problem seeing the signs but then the safe option (in London anyway) is to assume 24 hours if you didn't see a sign and consider using the lane when you did.
I need to think of something new here...

No, it's not tiny. If you can't read it you need your eyes tested.

I think Jimbo means that you can't read it unless you are pretty much already in the bus lane, it is pretty hard to read from a moving car outside the lane, which is why so many people don't drive in them at any time to be safe. Number plate letters are a little bigger so I can read them from 20 metres....
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
