We went to the local big Xmas shop on Sunday jessy and it was packed! (So much so we didn’t stay long) I can see why it would be even more popular after this year. Hettyhound do you get nowtv? I always used to get sky movies for a couple of months over Xmas for the kids but then switched to now tv a few years ago as it’s payg and cheaper, there are often vouchers on Amazon for as little as £2.99 pm and it’s the same as sky movies, sorry if I’m telling you what you already know 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Erm...well...I have a confession to make..
I may have created a bit of a monster with BF, as he is now slightly obsessed with money saving, spreadsheets and Martin Lewis.
Anyway, yesterday he got very excited about an article he'd read by Martin Lewis about not saving an EF but paying off debts instead, including the mortgage, and well, one thing led to another and I may have taken £400 from the EF and paid it off the mortgage!I still have £2100 in the EF, which would cover 3 months worth of bills if required. I had another job rejection so it did help to cheer me up!

But Jessy, don’t forget that’s also your FU money should you want to walk away - the mortgage will still be there to OP when you’ve got a new job. Did you ever think any more about learning to drive? (Have a feeling something got in the way... a pandemic maybe??!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

There are worse monsters to create than a money-saving one I suppose! Could you split any cash 50/50 so you feel like you're working on both goals at once?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Yeah, I found a local driving instructor but it all got put on hold with covid, so I might pick it up again next year now.South_coast said:There are worse monsters to create than a money-saving one I suppose! Could you split any cash 50/50 so you feel like you're working on both goals at once?
Well, I've been doing it more 70/30 but 50/50 would probably suit me better. I change my mind constantly about my current job but I do feel like while I've got it and no travel expenses, throwing everything at the mortgage isn't a terrible idea!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Could you have two EF accounts, one is the real EF and one is a holding account for OP’s? The op one gets added to your spreadsheet as paid off the mortgage balance but in a dire emergency when everything else is gone you could fall back on it still?Great news on the Martin brainwashing with boyfriend though 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4
