We are going to the Coronas Playa in Lanzarote in a couple of months. It’s a Tui Gold hotel, adults only. First time at that hotel but the reviews on Trip Advisor are positive.
We stayed in th Holiday Property Bond complex across the road several times and dropped in on the Coronas Playa for the evening entertainment programme - residents were positive and we had only good impressions....apart from the "hotel cats" which the management advised clients not too feed.

Of course, as per the mindset of some Brits, that instruction applies to other folk only, hence the small colony of feral felines.

It's a nice part of the island - the Spanish Royal family have a summer retreat along the coast from the hotel, and the American Ambassador likweise has an official holiday villa not so far away.

We are regular visitors to Lanzarote and have encountered cats at many of the hotels and in the resorts. They are looked after by a charity called Freddy’s as far as I can gather. Personally I give them a wide berth!

The management at the Coronas Playa clearly didn't want feral cats on site.

    I'll second your last sentence.

We have been on flights where sreaming children have been an issue. There is nothing you an do about it as even if you pay for reserved seats children could be in the next row. It is pure luck. The only answer which is we know is not practicable is have adult on section seating on flights.
A couple of years ago we stayed at the Cocunut Bay hotel in St Lucia, which had an adult only accomodation and pool section. Also families had to eat by 8 o'clock so if you wanted to dine in a child free zone you would need to eat after this time. This seems to work for everybody.

Got a "Big Bird" back to LGW from Dubai a couple of years ago. My seat was an aisle seat right near the back of the aircraft.

I never expected infants so far to the rear. Shock, horror, an infant sat by the window, and a lone dad in the middle.

After 3 interruptions to get past me before the plane had set off, I asked the dad if it might be better if I sat next to window? He said "Up to to you mate, but the kid's peed on it!!!"

Ear plugs are a standard when we fly on package holiday flights, and I have noise cancelling headphones - works a treat !!!
  • TUI Gold hotels are a very good option. Be aware some holidays advertised as adult only only apply to UK visitors some foreign travel companies using the hotel do allow children. For us having no screaming kids at a hotel on our holiday is our number one priority.
