thanks lunar, how much do you think you could reasonably afford to overpay per month incl extras such as quidco and ebay? if you keep it realistic you'll stay motivated....she says setting highly unrealistic goals!!! :-/

happy for someone else to join me, that mint card can be toast in a very short time!!!!

  • No problemo sweety keep us updated! How much out of interest is the APR on Provi? I'm guessing pretty high... from your sig it looks like a low amount, how about as a starter getting that out of the way for your first boost?

provi is SHOCKINGLY  high!! but yes you'r right it is a low amount, now as i need most of this months money for the dreaded christmas shopping I shall start low, by getting shot of provi this month!! :T then start tackling the big boys from my december pay. no birthdays in Jan to pay for, car sorted, so that is the month that I can really start to tackle it head on and 3 days before christmas will mean i'll be in a fabby mood for the season wooooo!!!!

OH and I are going halveses on chrimbo pressies for the family this year, asked him last night how much we should put in each.... suffice to say i am NOT spending £400 between us on family. so i will accept, go shopping, keep it as good and dfw as poss then suprise him with a refund when it is all done!! :D

We have agreed that we aren't going to get pressies for each other this year but instead go shopping in the jan sales and treat each other then which sounds good to me. :D

I'm currently on the tesco website meal planning for next week and how much it is going to cost for each item.
Anyone know a recepie for lasagne? i think certain people think i have suddenly gone bonkers!! but i've not felt this motivated or positive since i ain't got a clue when so what the hell i'm going for it!! :j :rotfl:

Good to see you EVAB how are you? and LOL at the diego comment!:rotfl:
i see you are kicking me at the challenge right now but oooh how i have a cunning plan!! (in the shape of a bag full of ebayable goods sitting on the bottom of my stairs! ;)

  • I wish I could pay off £15k in a year but alas there is only one income coming into this household and with a teenage DS there is a lot going out of it too!

I agree with paying off NR first, it would really give you a massive boost, can you overpay? If not I would save up the money and get a final settlement - as you know they knock a percentage of the interest off.

I always use saynoto0870, particuarly when calling Nationwide but occasionally companies get wise to it then make the numbers unavailable .

I love this whole DFW thing but feel a bit obsessed, wish I had found this board 3 years ago before getting into this blummin' pickle! You are all lovely, lovely people. :smileyhea

Good luck Pania, imagine how great Christmas 2008 will be with all those horrid bills paid off :rudolf:
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

christmas 2008 would be heaven!! :A i know £12k sound sshockingly high to some but when you started out with 39K at it's highest about 3 years ago it is a figure i would be perfectly comfortable with. I can then let the nationwide loan tick down gradually at about £300 per month until it is gone gone gone!! :j

yep me to squirrel, if we knew then what we know now hey. certainly makes you think.

we have a family friend right now that is buying every single gadget out there, has just cancelled a holiday as they can't afford it and have just consolidated all their debt but kept the credit cards. I so so want to slap them and wake them up and it makes me sad. but people learn lessons in their own time and i'll be here to point them in this direction when they do.:o

yes I can overpay northern rock but then i think if i overpay i will end up paying the full amount, so will shoot off to look at savings accounts that i can't get at shortly! gosh soooo much to do, and loads of housework to do to!! can i have some more hours to the day please?

I'm good, snowed under with work and studying but all good.

Hmm seems I'm going to have to step up my game, have some things to sell on Amazon and some survey pennies building up.

Right off to find something else to make more money he he!!

I have been overpating by £300-£345 a month so far. i should be able to transfer more of my debt to 0% next year so it should reduce a bit quicker.
I think reducing by 15k is a big target but it will motivate me to take extra shifts so i might join you at that target, it would mean by next dec i will be 15k left in debt! Count me in.

I dont think i would have listened if anyone advised me before my LBM but it is really hard to see people putting themselves into debt. I have a friend who is just the same.

Right my theory is this. I am going to tackle my northern rock loan first. Reason for this is that aside from rent and fuel it is my biggest outgoing per month. Although it isn't the debt that would be suggested on my snowball to get shot of, £274 will absolutely steam through the other smaller debts once the Nrock loan has gone. So to stick to target i should pay £825 per month off nrock which means it will take approx 7 months to clear northern rock.
it has exactly 18 months left to run so I may even get a settlement figure on it which means it will be cheaper than this. woohoo!!
what are peoples thoughts on this or should i overpay every debt across the board?

The snowball is the best way of doing it - barring settlements. Why don't you ask for settlement figures on your other loans?
