ok so after doing my little noggin in with spreadsheets for most of the evening, here is the plan. I need a little psychological boost as this is the first monthI will have made any significant overpayment to my debt and (call me silly) I want to see the advantage of doing so to give me the motivation to continue.
My Nationwide CC is currently at £1280.30 as seen in my sig. I can afford to make a £240 overpayment on something, my current monthly payment on this debt is £40, so if i use the money to overpay this plus an extra £1.31 then I will see it drop to £999!!!! a fantastic psychological boost to see one of my major debts reduced from a starting balance of £1640 to £999!!!! roll on payday is all i can say!! woooo!!!

Now i KNOW snowball would say pay this off the highest interest first but I just think that the psychological boost would be the best thing bearing in mind it is the first large overpayment to be made.

I've also e-mailed AQA this evening! watch this space!!! ;-)
debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!

I think if paying the extra off the credit card will give you a psychological boost, then it's worth doing. Good luck with AQA, I quite fancy doing that but have always bottled out of filling in the application for some reason.

It's not that scary, it's just that it asks you to fill in your current employers details for references, and I didn't really want them to speak to my employer as I have a clause in my contract that means they can refuse permission for me to have a second job if they want to. Answering the example questions was quite fun though.

    Morning
I missed Strictly last night (Grotto money didn't want to balance and it was going to be a dash even if it had). It seems it wasn't on Virgin's catch up TV menu either <sigh>. How do you know Matt is through ? Is there no results show this week or have you been peeking at the spoilers on digital spy ? I really wanted Geth to win so I suspect I'm going to be gutted if Matt is through.
No Red Bull for me-I used to work for Wetherspoons and we sold it with vodka by the bucketload -the smell of it is really clingy and I grew to hate it by smell alone.
Having a lazy-ish morning then a housework challenge this afternoon with Hypno if anyone wants to join in.
    Happy Sunday all xx

They might not contact them actually - in fact I asked Keren (I think) about it and she said you can specifically ask them not to contact your current employer. So maybe I will have another go at some point!

Ah yes, the diary....*shuffles feet uncomfortably*

I sort of got a bit fed up of the constant posts criticising diaries that are social threads, and mine has been a bit guilty of that recently because there isn't much debt busting I can do while I'm on maternity leave with no income, so I've sort of let it lapse. I think I will wait until I actually have some money coming in again, and then will set myself a challenge to get the last of the debt kicked.

    Personally, I like a bit of socialising though....hehehe! ;)

i know what you mean snaggs i was kinda feeling that way too so had left mine alone for a while but then went back to it and soon after made it debt free so i dont feel i can keep it going now either and much as i love the daily chat idea (think it helps alot) i did like having a place where i could keep all my musings (utter rubbish that i write) together in the one place ...im just popping in and out of other threads now and enjoying that ...i love reading pania's hypno's and karma's ...some diaries just go too fast for me to keep up with though

El!!!!! I had NO idea you had become debt free!!!!!

Wel done hun - I'm subscribed to your diary but my subscriptions seem to have gone a bit loopy since 'the attack' :) and I hadn't noticed you were writing in it again.

I am going shopping in a sec but will make a point of tracking down your diary and catching up this afternoon!
