Got to go and fill my car with petrol again boo hiss but will make use of tesco and get the points back to. I keep wondering about swapping my heap for a smaller cheaper car, but someone pointed out to me the other day that my car has a large engine in it, as such it is built much more robustly than a smaller car which is why it has kept going for so long on the miles that i do (routinely no less than 1500 per month, sometimes much much more.:o good job i love driving hey!!:D ) a smaller engined car at the same age or price would probably pretty quickly fall apart at the seams under that mileage, so reliable expensive-to-run car vs less reliable cheaper-to-run car

It also depends on the kind of driving you do. Small cars excel at pootling around in town - larger cars are best for motorway driving.

So for example, my car gets a higher MPG going up a steep hill at 80, than it does going around town at 30. A smaller-engined car strains when doing motorway speeds, hence it gets a lot worse MPG at high speeds.

The proof came to me a few years ago when going down south for holiday - the XOH's car - 1.3l, took three refills to get there and back. Mine - 2.0l - got there and back on one tank, with a useful amount of fuel left for the daily commute. Admittedly it had a larger tank - but not that much larger.

Pretty poor sort of conference if it doesn't have WiFi ;)
Just cleaned (most of) the kitchen-carpet is disgusting -what idiot puts a carpet down in a walkthrough area (not me-was here new when I moved in) and then gets three cats to add to the walkthrough grubbiness (ah that would be me). Awaiting dishwasher man now to fix dishwasher for FREE after been dishwasherless for 18 months. I start work at 4 and as home office is the dining room next to the kitchen I'm hoping he turns up before then (actually maybe I should just hope he turns up).
Off to hoover now-seems like I've caught whatever Pania has !!

  • pania huni, u need to change cam belt kit, not just the belt. the kit includes new tensioners for the end of the belt and if these are not replaced they will become brittle and snap(they probly already are). pointless replacing the belt and not the tensioners as any good mechanic will tell you :j also is a good idea to save on labour and replace the water pump at the same time as the pump itself isnt too expensive tho depends on the car, you can always sell the old one on ebay

    Hi P
glad you're home and can enjoy an evening of peace. Everything went through ok yesterday, so we can forget about that for another 5 years.
I've just got our travel insurance sorted and put the paperwork in an envelope for the honeymoon, even that's real now!
