Thanks Olive, It's amazing how remaining resolutely upbeat and being determined to look on the bright side really raises your spirits, think it was a bit of a mind shift to be honest and it is helping me to be much more happy and relaxed. I'm even sleeping better and am a nicer person to be around (I think)!! How are you? good I hope? and hope you are feeling a bit happier now to. xxx

The spinal injuries association is there for children with injuries as well as adults, and ive seen the difference that can be made through donations to them. spinal injuries affect the whole family, and people spend months in hosiptal, often far away from home as there arnt to many centres in the country. i think its such a worthwile cause and donations make a real difference to whole families. you are doing a really good thing raising money for them.

Im sorry your dad is so ill, but glad to hear things are getting better with your family.

Good news on the refund from the travel inn, and it will help as its getting closer to christmas.

Hey Lunar, love the decorated sigm very festive!!!!!!!:D

About 4 years ago I was a police officer working on traffic, i was driving along a dual carriageway minding my own business when the car infront of me lost control swerved off the carriageway and went over the top of a motorway sign. The person driving came out of the driverside window and the sign landed on top of them.

It was a sight that I have burnt in my memory and that I relive very often, esp when driving in the rain. The driver is now paraplegic as a result of the accident and it was the incident that went a significant distance towards ending my career and inducing the depression that I suffered for a good while afterwards.

I know that this person had contact with the SIA and if i can do anything at all to make life easier for the likes of this person then i will. I think to be honest it will aleviate my guilt, although I know realisitcally there is absolutely nothing i could have done it was total coincidence that Iw as following the car and that I was first on the scene but i wish that there could have been something i could have done to make it easier for this person. maybe in some small way this will give back. :D

sorry, there is my depressing story!!:o

Anyway back to cheerful! Yep the money will defo come in handy, we had a lovely weekend for free!! YAY!!:j

How are you lunar? I noticed on another thread that you have a diary? where is it hon?

Need to update my sig in a bit too now my payments for this month are coming out. :D

  • Hi P - god to read our update. Hope your Dad is feeling better and you are doing an amazing thing running for SIA. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I think it is easier to raise money for something close to your heart as you will feel so proud when you have finished. Well done you :T

there is no way you could have stopped that person getting a spinal injury it will have happened at the time of impact. you definatly have nothing to feel guilty about. it is more than likley that you pervented them from having further injuries by being the first on the scene. you must be a really special person to still be in touch, and activly trying to help.

Thanks P, I'm not particularly cheerful (it is a 3 x KitKat day) but fortunately I don't have to maintain this cheerful demeanor (sp?) at home, cos there's only the cat to offend :rotfl:

    Hello Pania.

What a terrible experience it must have been witnessing that accident. As Lunar said, it was very lucky that there was a responsible police officer on the scene so quickly, and that the person has had help from the SIA. I can see why it would haunt you and I hope by raising money for the SIA you will feel better about it all.

On a happier note, I'm up for a London meet-up. I'm also very happy to check out venues in advance if that would be useful.
