Came last week - but note that NZ renewals are now for only 5 years, not 10 as before.
Feel so much better to have it with me again - can always take off virtually just by knowing it's possible.

Ah, but have you googled Rick Stein+wife?
Good for Mrs S - imo, Oz interloper gal seems pretty opportunist.
I scent regrets - is RS unconvinced by Edith Piaf?
Then again-thanks to RS chatting with Christopher Hope - HE of one of my much-loved/re-read signal titles, 'Love and Death in Languedoc' - I am now certain I know where he lives, near where my b'day lunch was and we dug up wild pines....
Then again, NO thanks to RS quoting it(ditto self now:rolleyes: ), Patience Gray's 'Honey from a Weed' is even more expensive than it was when I first scoured for it years back....un de ces jours.
    S. Fry? - def. yes. Who cares about proclivites?
Years ago, a mawkish thing on R4, 'Crown House'[Francis Brett Young?] if anyone remembers - had a line I've always remembered. A certain coupledom was being denigrated and someone replied 'But they made a happy life together.'
    There's worse than that.

And yes, karmacat - there are oh!too many books left to be found for my lifetime.
Anyone else LOVE John Baxter's 'A Pound of Paper'?
rs80-use some Mr T's for Eurotunnel £49 each way, if you don't want to part with real money. But if you can, travel with Speedferries - have done since they began. CHEAP! - bookings work on the easyjet/ryanair principle. Sooner=cheaper, odd times and days ditto.

Oh mine's definitely all real and hopefully achievable.. well, apart from RS, MP and SF I suspect :rotfl:Ta for the tip on the ferries and Mr T's vouchers, I don't usually get many but I should probably save them up! Not read 'A Pound of Paper' either *heads off to Amazon to look but not buy*

I love this - 'But they made a happy life together.'

You lot have really made me think today.. thank you x

I try and visit at least one new city each year.
This year I have already been to Chicago and had a city tour-but want to go back-and will be adding Salt Lake City to the ticked off list in July. Oh visited Carlisle the end of last year and am definitely going back this year-lovely part of the country.
Ones I'm hoping to find 1p deals to at some point include Barcelona and Vilna in Europe and one day St Petersburg

I went to Barcelona for my 50th! It was lovely, Liverpool with sun - fantastic architecture, gritty ambience in the business parts. Possibly why I'd like to live there!

St Petersburg - I *have* to go there, I just have to. And I've seen so little of Eastern Europe, and not been to Russia yet either. Yet more reasons for making the trading work. I was going to post details of what I've tried to do this week, but will put it on my own diary, too detailed for here.

    Another place: Botswana!

Didn't do it-GCSE year in this house so no spring trips for DS (except maybe Cumbria in May-waiting on his exam timetable before we plan anything more) but a super-duper one in July which still needs lots of saving for.
