Trying to mediate a house purchase

All we need now is Crashy Time to come along and say the house is over-valued and they should just wait until the price corrects to 50% of it's current price.
That way there is no need for a mortgage.0 -
I've long since figured out that trying to understand other people's relationships is the route to madness.
If it works for them...0 -
She might as well divorce him and would probably be entitled to half that 100% deposit, plus could get a mortgage for the same amount! Only a quarter of the property price missing so am sure she could find something a quarter cheaper and be quids in.
Unless the mortgage is taking into account his salary too, even though he's not paying towards it?! Can't see her getting a mortgage in her name if they're both on the deeds.
(Was actually meant to be slightly tongue in cheek - but, actually, not so sure on thinking about it...)2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

That's what she has agreed to according to the OP. Now she's trying to change it. Perhaps the pennys dropping ?
But it sounds like the husband has more disposable income.
So maybe the husband can afford a holiday in Barbados, but the wife can't.
So he goes to Barbados and she goes to Skegness?
And for a meal out, he goes to The Ivy and she goes for a cheeky Nandos?0 -

She pays her half of the bill at the Ivy and he pays his half of the bill at Nandos?:)
Sheesh, this is marriage?
What happened to "With all my worldly goods I thee endow"?:)0 -
P'haps she needs to find someone less endowed.Ahem...
Say no more!:o0 -
If neither party can afford the house by themselves then it’s a moot point, surely? No wrong or right. They do whatever they want, and that doesn’t relay on others.0

Well maybe yes for all of those, if it works for them, but then again if she's starting to complain about this whilst pretty clear its down to her to pay the interest since if she paid cash like him it wouldn't cost any more and its not his fault she cant, you'd think maybe the penny will drop about the Nandos and Skeggy, because at root its the same point
