Tell them you're considering a different supplier, and would be sad to part ways, however, there's no point you having something you've tried many times and are not getting on with. They may well review their 'no substitutions' policy as you've been with them a good while and are good customers. Speak to someone senior enough to make a decision and who's going to want to keep you.
Or send the beetroot to me. I love fresh beetroot!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
Grate it and mix it with grated carrot.

I cut it into chunks and cook it in stews, like chunks of carrot and parsnip. It makes the sauce turn a rather dramatic rich brown, but it soaks up the flavours of the sauce very nicely.
I also just roast it in tinfoil in the oven, untill the skin slips off under the tap. Then slice and eat it as a hot vegetable, like you would carrots or turnip. It has a sweet and delicate taste like that.Val.0 -
If you have a juicer then you could try juicing them raw with a bit of root ginger and then mixing the juice with orange juice. Very healthy and the ginger takes the edge of the earthiness.
You could make preserves with the beetroot and give them away as presents - pickled beetroot, chutney etc.
By the way, if you do end up eating your beetroot then don't panic when your p**h goes red!0 -
I don't like beetroot eitheir.
The only time I've ever eaten and enjoyed it was at a party, the Lebanese hostess finely grated it raw, mixed it with garlic, lemon juice and thick yoghurt. Dip toasted pitta bread it it - yummy! No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -

mmm beetroot. Yum!!
I used to boil it and serve it as if it were potatoes. Serve with cold meat/gammon.
Slice it into a cheese sandwich. Slice into a ham sandwich.
I also ate it like it was an apple. (cooked) But that was when I was pregnant... lol.0 -

Another person here who isnt keen on beetroot - and I'm not a big cakemaker either (as I avoid sugar). But this recipe sounds like a possible idea for me - and the beetroot crisps might be another.
What is the method purlease for making beetroot crisps?:) (I DO like my "details" - so how thin, how long for, sprayed with oil or no?, etc).0 -

We do this but add orange juice, my dh doesn't like beetroot but loves this! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
