You're absolutely right Moneywhizz. Had two more blazing rows this afternoon after I got back from puppy class - this time I got accused of seeing someone else and then being unstable. Followed by a text begging me to go away with him tomorrow. And I'm supposed to be the unstable one!!!
I have my house keys back and have dropped his off (just pushed them through the letterbox) so at least I know he can't come around anymore. The alarm puts pay to that.

Anyway, enough of depressing stuff - puppy class was lovely. No training just all the dogs and owners having fun. There was a load of games and some competitions and tea and cake. There's dogs of all ages and abilities so there were loads of mixed teams etc and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
Pup came second in the "best and longest sit" competition for dogs under 1 year old - very proud of him as he's only 16 weeks old :);)
I have developed pushy parent syndrome!!!

Came home, argued with exOH on the phone, and rather than have a meltdown took the dog for a walk in the evening sunshine. Feel much better now,
Have also hoovered downstairs again (mucky pup) and done a load of washing and had a nice chat with my neighbours. I can do this!

Going to potter around, catch up on some telly and have an early night. Tomorrow is the start of the new me. :)
  • :rotfl:at pushy parent syndrome! Well done pup! Glad you had a good time at the puppy class.

Sorry to hear that you've had a trying weekend re exOH. Hope the first week of the holidays is restful for you.

How is it that men who are intelligent, professional and supposedly mature still roll with the same sh** as those who are too young to know better? Is he really so arrogant that he can’t look inwardly for the root of the problem?
You both have stressful jobs, looking forward to spending the downtime together should be a pleasure. Do whatever makes you happy, we won’t judge but if you are going to make up, please make him suffer first to keep us happy too :rotfl:
So pleased you have the puppy to keep you busy and distracted, he will love you unconditionally.
Where’s the 2019 summer break mega list? Though I’ve not got over last year’s yet, it was nearly a whole page! :D

Sorry that you’re having a difficult time at the moment – it’s very wearing having to deal with this type of behaviour. I think you are dealing with it well and I always find getting out for some exercise helps.

Good luck with your summer list.

Hello all - sorry I've been AWOL for a while,
Decided on the spur of the moment to take pup to Cornwall on Tuesday after all as it was all paid for and would sit empty otherwise. Turned out to be a lovely little cottage (part of a barn conversion) about a mile inland on a working farm. After a long drive, had a nice relaxing time pottering about, dog walking, beach visits and popping into Bude. The only problem was a lack of phone signal and wifi but it was a nice break away from the world ;)
It wasn't as hot there (although it was still very warm) as it was at home so it was probably also a good thing to go for the dog's sake.

Drove back yesterday and was pooped. Had a quiet night, phoned mum and went to bed fairly early.

Have been to the supermarket this morning and spent £34 - starting a hardcore diet today (after ice cream, pasties and wine for a week!). I was also going to go for a run but have an upset stomach today so will see how I feel later, running might be a bit awkward at the moment :) !!!!
But I have walked the pup for 30 mins and will go again later.
Done a load of washing and have unpacked and tidied round - it's pouring down outside so I think it will be an afternoon in catching up on a few jobs and maybe some telly.

Whilst out, I returned a couple of tops to tesco and matalan and got a £40 refund. Better in my account than unworn in the back of the wardrobe....

Just looked at the banking and finances and would like to have an economical next two weeks until pay day. I'll probably go to Wales to see my family at some point in the next week or two but have already put away £80 for petrol, which should be more than enough. There's £75 cash in my purse of left over spending money from last week so that will last the next week at least as I don't have any big plans yet.
I'd like to go abroad for 5-7 days at the end of August so will try to cut back a bit in the meantime to contribute towards it - I have some holiday savings already so will try to swell that account a bit through being frugal(ish) for the next few weeks.

The big summer to do list will follow later today :)

    Investigate decorating spare room

    Finances
Investigate cancelling sky and getting new broadband - done
    Change mortgage insurance
    Save towards holiday
Save towards getting hall and stairs redecorated
Try to put some money aside towards the dog walker fees in the autumn
Use up what's in rather than buy more - food, toiletries and cleaning stuff
    Sell old mobile phone
Shop every other week at Aldi/Lidl

    Hobbies and Interests
Go to weekly puppy training classes
    Use free cinema tickets
    Read 3 books
Find new podcasts to listen to - done
See old friends at least 3 times before we lose touch completely

Book holiday for the end of August
Catch up on missed TV and Netflix on rainy days
    Buy new dog harness
Find at least one new dog walk route a week

I'm sure I'll think of more - will add to the list as I go along......

Had a fairly relaxing but productive afternoon an evening.
Have shampooed the hall and stairs carpet to de-puppyfy it - am paranoid about it smelling doggy (due to OHs dribbly pup). Smells nice and clean now. Will do the lounge carpet tomorrow.

Wrangled with Sky who wanted to put the bill up and managed to not only stop it increasing but got a bit off every month too even though the contract isn't expiring until February, saving £150 ish a year. Will probably cancel Sky altogether and get a new broadband provider in the new year. I don't really watch it and can happily get by with Netflix and free view with catch up TV.

Have taken the dog for another big walk in the rain - that's over 5.5 km done today.
Made a nice tea of falafel, new potatoes and salad - am attempting the tesco version of slim fast for a week to see how it goes. Not been too bad today and could be a kick start to a proper diet. 2 shakes, 3 snacks (that I haven't bothered with today as I didn't need them) and a proper but lowish cal and healthy tea.

I've decided to go to Wales next Sunday after puppy class for a few days - mum is very pleased :) So that means that this coming week is my own.
I can work my way through some of the jobs on my to do list ......
  • Glad you got to Cornwall...my parents often holiday in Bude - lovely area :).

Well done on your holiday list. I have carpet shampooing on my list for similar reasons.

Thank you Honeysuckle - it is a beautiful area. Could quite happily live there. A fantasy but a nice one.....

Been awake since 5am - had quite a good sleep due to no alcohol yesterday, starting as I mean to go.
Been watching Designated Survivor since getting up - I do like it, daft American nonsense but watchable.

Have a few plans for today - puppy training if it's still on this afternoon (it's currently like a monsoon out), a run if it eases off a bit, lots of soggy dog walking, shampooing the lounge carpet, cleaning the microwave and sorting the dry cleaning out and doing the yoga app.
The weather is atrocious - what a contrast to last week - the dog won't even go out to the garden! Not sure what else I can do in these conditions - will have to think of something, I'm not good at doing nothing.....

Glad you managed to get away and enjoyed the break with the little pup. You have a lengthy to do list there so I am sure it will keep you busy during the holidays. After being so busy during the term it is hard to unwind and do nothing. I was never good at that either. It is especially difficult when the weather is so bad and you cant get out and about. Maybe you should think about another hobby/interest that would get you out of the house and meeting other people. Is there anything that you can think of that you would like to try? It is a period of adjustment for you just now and not always easy but it will get better as you build new things into your life.
