Puppy class was brilliant - thoroughly enjoyed it and pup is shattered now. There's about 5 or 6 different classes going on at the same time in different areas and ours is the equivalent of reception class in primary school. They move up through the classes as they get older and better trained. There's also agility and display work for the super swots!! It will be a good while before we can even think about trying those :)
Met lots of new like minded people and had a lovely time :)

OH is now officially the exOH - a series of texts confirming it and the transfer of some money he owed me has left no doubt about that. I've offered to have his dog during the days this week until the end of term to allow him time to make alternative arrangements to find a new dog walker - it's not the pup's fault. He's going to try to drop him off after I've left for work and collect him before I'm home. (He works literally around the corner from my house). Still not spoken to him - this was all conducted by text. Suits me.
I feel ok about it all strangely.

With regards to summer plans, they've all gone up the spout now. We were going to a cottage in Cornwall with the dogs when school finishes but obviously the that's not happening now. Will offer him the opportunity of going alone before I cancel it. I don't think there'll be any money back at this late stage though - we paid half each.
I'll have a think about what I'd like to do now - will definitely go away somewhere and my mum will have the dog if its abroad. I'll probably go home to Wales for a short break too - my family are always nagging me to go back more often.

Anyway, I'll let the dust settle and think about the new single me - I haven't been on my own for over 6 years (almost all of my forties) so perhaps it's a good time for a rediscovery and reinvention of myself. Will treat it as a positive thing.
Off to ponder life and what I want .... I feel a list coming on..... ;)

Sorry to hear that it is now final, but at least the indecision is over and you know where you stand. You sound quite happy and focused on the future but of course it is a big adjustment and will take time to build up a different life. You have made a good start today by meeting new people at the puppy class, lots of possibilities there with like minded people. Great that you see this as an opportunity to reinvent yourself. Good idea just to take time to adjust to being single and find out what you really want from life. Wishing you well.
  • Sending you big hugs MT. I imagine the next few weeks will be very up & down for you, especially without the distraction of work, but you are a very strong woman and I know you will be just fine. You are inspirational and seem like a lovely lady, so it’s his loss! x

Thank you Moneywhizz and Pink Butterfly.
Your comments are much appreciated. I may be in denial but I feel absolutely fine at the moment. I've had a busy weekend with new things tried and enjoyed.
    Onwards and upwards.....

MT you are wonderful. You really are. It's ok to be ok at the end of something. It's been up and down for a while now so it's not come as a shock, you've already been able to embrace this change.

I'm glad you enjoyed the puppy classes and super well done on the weight loss.

I'm cheering you on from the sidelines as always.

Hello mumblingtaff, I have followed your diary for a while but I have never commented.

I’m sorry your relationship has ended and it's good that you feel OK about it but be kind to yourself if you do feel upset. I know work can be a distraction but it struck me that perhaps it is a good thing that the holidays are just around the corner. Having time to yourself will give you a chance to think about what you do want and, as you say, rediscover and reinvent yourself.

The puppy classes too have started at a good time - I agree with Moneywhizz about the possibilities of meeting new like minded people.

You sound like a lovely person and I feel sure a positive future awaits you.

    Good luck

Thank you Starmummy and Elnora - your posts are much appreciated and help reinforce that I've done the right thing.
On the subject of which, I told my parents tonight about it all and they were brilliant - really supportive and positive. Wasn't looking forward to it but was pleasantly surprised.

On a different note - pup is quite poorly with raging diahorrea, poor thing. He's seems fine in himself but what goes in literally comes straight back out in liquid form. Took him to the vet yesterday as I was worried about him dehydrating whilst being so young and he has meds and special food (which he won't eat) but it will apparently take a couple of days to get better. There's a bug going round... If I hand feed him he'll eat but doesn't have much of an appetite. Seems more lively this evening though.
Will make another appointment tomorrow for Friday so he can see a vet before the weekend - if he's better I'll just cancel it. Better safe than sorry
Yesterday's visit cost £70 .... Needed doing though.

I've been paid and spent an hour last night doing the banking etc - I've moved money into savings (holidays, house and garden, Xmas etc) and set aside cash for things like petrol, a hair appointment, the dog walker and my dads birthday present in addition to the usual bill payments, groceries and spending money for the month.
There's also a small contingency of £100 just in case.

Bought dads birthday present today and stuck to the budget set - it's being delivered to him in the next day or two.

Did a 5km run with kids at school today - it was the annual fun run and they were amazed that I was running it - think they think I'm 108 years old and live in a cupboard in school :)
Was quite pleased with myself - did it in a respectable time (even compared to the blokes doing it) and was one of only 3 female staff running, the other two are about 20 years younger than me too!

Have walked the dog since being home and pottered around - think I'll have a fairly early night and try to catch up on some sleep - was up a lot of the night with a poorly pup.
  • Hope the poorly pup is better soon.

Well done on completing the fun run. :rotfl: at living in a cupboard at school!

Sorry to read about the situation with ex OH but better to know where you stand and move forward into the future, than be uncertain.

  • I remember once telling a year seven that I lived in the cupboard and drank red ink all night and they believed me. good on you for the fun run !

Nearly made it to the end! this week is so unreal now! Just sending love and solidarity!

Hope pup is soon better and the food and medication do their stuff. Well done on the run, it's good to show the kids something different about a teacher I feel, makes them realise you are a person in your own right and not just a participant in their lives.
