Downside is that 1st contract probably needs to be with BT. OR won't install copper to a premises already supplied with FTTP.
Based on what information does the first contract need to be with BT?Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I guessed wrong, it would appear that you can go with whoever you want out of the limited FTTP ISPs.onomatopoeia99 wrote: »Based on what information does the first contract need to be with BT?
Of course that assumes that the developer hasn't done a deal that ties you in to BT.0 -
Still waiting for one single documented instance of that happening. Together with an explanation of how it can be done as BT supply over Openreach backhaul and Openreach are compelled by OFCOM to make their network available on an equal basis to all ISPs.unforeseen wrote: »Of course that assumes that the developer hasn't done a deal that ties you in to BT.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

The point is that ‘BT’ isn’t a network operator/owner so developers cannot do a deal with ‘BT’ in the same way as they could with Virgin Media or any ‘alt net’ , if Openreach provide the network into a new development , then OR have to offer wholesale access to communication providers that wants to use that network0
