Halifax switch for long-standing customer

I've been with Halifax for more than 20 years and currently have their reward current account, plus a range of others (savings) under my profile.
I've never received any form of switching bonus from Halifax before so I'm thinking of doing so.
If I've read it correctly, the switch does not require any standing orders or direct debits to be transferred, it just states that the old account will be closed.
I'm thinking of opening another reward account, then set up a couple of direct debits to benefit from the £2 a month. Can you have more than one?
One of the requirements is to go paperless, but I have paper copies. Is it possible to only activate the paperless option for the newly created switched account, leaving the rest intact? Will this work, or does it have to be account-wide?
If you cannot have more than one account, I suppose I can look at it as a £135 incentive to:
- close an account held elsewhere
- activate paperless option
Thanks for any comments.

Think you can only have the 1 reward account0

I had 2 Reward current accounts with Halifax recently. I think your plan to switch into the second account will be ok and still leave the original account as it is.0

Ive also got 2, but this was from back in the day when you were allowed upto 3. IIRC they reduced this down to the 1 a few years ago. Unless theyve since changed it with the reward drop to a paltry £2, havent really kept up with that too much.0 -

Yes your correct, although you can have 2 Reward accounts 1 solo and 1 joint account. My second account must have had a non reward one then.0 -
What's wrong with you people. You can't switch a HALIFAX REWARD ACCOUNT to a HALIFAX REWARD ACCOUNT and receive a switching bonus!0

They were reluctant to activate paperless option on the original long standing Reward account.0 -
If you are switching away from Halifax then a bog standard current account will do the trick, it doesn't need to be a RCA.
If you are switching into Halifax and aren't able to have another reward account then you have 2 options - switch in and open a standard current account as the 2nd account or switch into the already opened RCA but you will need to turn off paper statements if that is part of the requirement for the switching bonus - although no reason you can't turn them back to paper after receiving the bonus.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Halifax no longer offer a standard current account. They only have the Reward Current Account or the Ultimate Reward Current Account, which charges a monthly fee. They also have a student account, an under 17s account and Basic Account, but these don't qualify for the switching offer.0 -

My thinking was the OP needn't concern themselves with setting up DDs to get the reward element if they are going to switch away.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
