A few INs today:
Garnier Eye Sheet Mask Hyaluronic Acid and Orange Juice 6g
Sensodyne Repair & Protect Whitening Toothpaste 75ml
Nivea Ultimate Protect Deodorant 50ml
The toothpaste and the deodorant are necessities, the eye sheet mask is for when my eye area feels a bit dehydrated.0 -
IN and OUT to report:-
UU Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel handcream. Loved this. Loved both the fragrance and formula. Will repurchase in the Winter. Have 2 handcreams in stash - another B&BW and Margaret Dabbs. Will use the latter first in case I don’t like it so I won’t have to repurchase so soon.
IN Luz Earle Skin Relief Moisturiser. Have returned to this for nigtcream. Whilst I like the Lacura Serum I’m not a fan of the fragrance in the night cream.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

[STRIKE]Mabelline, 140 roaring rose (bright pink)[/STRIKE] Not the right bright pink for
[STRIKE]MAC, creme sheen, ravishing+ (peach[/STRIKE]) Don’t think this ever suited me that well, persisted until 80% finished. Love the scent and the packaging.
[STRIKE]Dior, serum de rouge (lipstick+gloss) 760 (deep maroon)+*[/STRIKE] - the lipstick doesn’t seem to wind up any further but the serum seems to come out still. Makes it difficult to apply and leaves little bits on your lips. I liked the colour but it’s deep so I don’t wear often. Beautiful packaging.
[STRIKE]Barry M, bright pink/coral*[/STRIKE] - the sheerness made it uneven, colour didn’t suit me.
[STRIKE]No7, matte liquid lips, pink/nude*[/STRIKE] - don’t like matte
[STRIKE]Neal’s Yard, Bee Lovely[/STRIKE] repurposed as body balm
New total: 15
I’m still deciding on what red suits me best...?!
I’m still on the fence about a couple of brights too.
I think I’d like to use more glosses / shimmer/shine finish lipsticks moving forward..
I like a vintage red best, the type that was popular in the 30's and 40's but they tend to be yellow based and a blue based red suits my skintone better, that said I still rarely wear a full on red.
uu
Avon Mark Gel Shine Topcoat - this was excellent and I paid £2 for it, I am waiting till it is £2 again and I will buy another. What does Mark mean, does anyone know?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Tried Fenty in Boots today because of the large foundation shade range. Was shade matched and think I quite like it. Will keep my eye for a sale price I think..0

It is also available on Amazon (I try to avoid using Amazon but sometimes it is a lifesaver)
Same here! I have a relative who lives in the middle of nowhere, though, so free delivery to them is just irresistible!savingfortomorrow wrote: »I am going to buy the re-usable cotton or bamboo pads as really every packet costs a fair bit for demak remover pads. 3 packets would pay for 20 re usable rounds on ebay. sounds like a no brainer for me. I reuse all my clothes why not these.
I'm completely in love with mine. I've only got 1 pack of 12 so might buy myself some more just to make it easier when I get towards the end of the little bag of them, but I don't think I could ever go back - I love how you never find yourself rushing to buy another pack cos you thought you had some more in your stockpile but don't!Just ordered some re-usable cotton pads from Etsy.
I have a couple of things listed on Ebay with watchers and bids - hopefully will have some OUTs this week.
I haven't seen the Etsy ones *Logs on to site* Gosh, they have some cute ones! :smileyhea
To be fair, if anyone is good with a sewing machine or an over locker, I think they could make their own. I'm just useless with a sewing machine! :rotfl:
Also, ladies, it appears that there is a market in reusable cloths (muslin, cotton) and in reusable sanitary products. It may be a bit rude to ask (:o), but has anyone tried any and what do you think? Please call me 'Pickle'

Welcome back InaPickle.
We have a Zero Waste shop where I live so I take my empty shower gel bottles to re-fill them. I also switched to soap bars and buy toilet rolls from who gives a crap when I can ttps://uk.whogivesacrap.org/
I stopped using body scrubs and converted to a body brush a long time ago.
Hello again asajj!
I *love* the idea of zero-waste shops. If you can't get rid of plastic, it's definitely better to reuse it. Alas, although I live in a large urban area, I live just far enough from my 'local' zero-waste shops to make it almost impossible to buy any decent amount of stuff from them and get it home as I don't currently have a car and they are at least 2 bus/tram journeys away from where I live. I really hope one opens nearer to me, soon, so I can do more of my shopping there more frequently.
Whatever happened to those 'Weigh and Save' shops there used to be when I was little?!
I'm with you on the soap bars and I've seen WGAC before now, but it's very expensive compared to what I pay for toilet rolls. I hear that Tesco now does some toilet rolls that come in paper wrappings, but I can't find out the details of them. I would be interested in seeing what they are priced at, as it might be more affordable for me.
Also, ever tried making your own body scrubs? They are very easy to make and people seem disproportionately pleased with them if you give them as a present!I'm the same with toothpaste, I can't risk problems with my teeth. I have come unstuck with floss, it is possible to buy a container for the floss which is glass with a metal lid but the natural floss is silk which is a no no for me so I would have to fill it with normal floss. Have you come across any other alternatives?
Alas, no, but thankfully asajj has done the research for both of us! :TNice to meet you InaPickle! I think I might have joined after you took a break. I am quite similar to you in lots of ways, don't often wear make up, am vegan as much as poss and aim to use vegan stuff most of the time as well as reduce packaging. I have replaced shower gels and liquid handsoap with hard soaps on the whole because they last longer and have recyclable packaging/none at all.
This month I aim to try co-washing because I have naturally curly hair. I sold my hair straighteners and have not straightened my hair for a week now... it is taking some getting used to. I still blow dry it at the moment but we will see. I think switching to co-washing (only using conditioner) will save me a lot of money as well as being better for my hair but means I will make incredibly slow progress with using products up going forward. I plan to use shampoo or a roots treatment once a week though.
Where did you purchase your metal razor? I currently have a Dorco one but it still uses replacement blades that have plastic on so may switch up when it eventually becomes unuseable.
You, too, Ponypal!
Just to put it out there, I'm not vegan and probably never can be due to health reasons, but I certainly don't think that there needs to be cruelty in beauty.
I'm with you on the soaps...I may even go one further and make my own once I start to get to the end of my current stash. I may even risk trying to make a shampoo bar or two, once I've figured out what works and what does not with my hair.
I've never heard of co-washing before, but can see how it might help you Curlies.I've washed my hair earlier this week using my regular conditioner afterwards so I could get a sense of what the bar itself was doing to my hair, and I just washed it using both the shampoo and conditioner bars. While I can't really comment about the conditioner bar yet as my hair is still wet *drips all over computer*, I now understand the meaning of 'stripping the natural oils' from my hair...although my hair was literally squeaky clean after I washed it the first time, the hair itself felt oilier, somehow, and when I put my usual conditioner on after I had washed it, I could feel it pull some of the oils out of it. I wasn't expecting it to feel like that, but my hair was fine both still while wet and after I dried it.
I got my razor (and resuable cotton wool pads) at a *drumroll* vegan fair from a company called Leave No Trace.
Pro tip: the razor comes with 5 blades but order some more with it so you don't have to pay P&P on the replacements if you can't find a local stockist. Please call me 'Pickle'

I got my re-usable cotton pads from this company but on Etsy!
I haven't tried making my own body scrub - what do i need to do that?My favourite red (though I don’t own it anymore is NARS Cruella.
I have developed a thing for red lipsticks over the last 12 months. My favorite is Spicy Chilly from Clarins.
I have sold 1 lipstick from Estee Lauder (it was a GWP) and Touche Eclat Blur Primer on Ebay. That's 2 outs.
Also uu'ed Elvive Nourishing conditioner and Lee Stafford Miracle Heat Defense Spray. I wondered this morning what is in these sprays to defend my hair from the heat?ally.0
