Passed my test first time when I was 17, had a car for two years then I got sectioned until I was 24.
Now take medication which can cause drowsiness, haven't driven in around 6 or 7 years.
I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia

Thanks

No need to re take test but medical assesment needed.

After a long break with only two years previous driving experience a two hour driving lesson might be wise.

    Ok thanks.

26 yr old male and no points on license. I'd be looking at around £100 per month for a small 1.2 or so wouldn't I ?

No idea. Try getting quotes from the comparison sites.

    Hi guys
Passed my driving test in 2012 and drove for a year, no points on license completely clean.
Got section for paranoid schizophrenia for about 4 years and came out in 2017.
Have to take antipsychotics and a beta blocker.

So i havent driven in 6/7 years and now take meds.
Also cannot remember where i left my physical pink license as it went missing years ago
Do i need to resit my test ?

Can't see why you'd have to. Did you surrender your licence when you became ill?

Nope, parents sold the car ( it was their old one ) and that's all as far as I know.

I'm asking because ive had so long off from driving and now on meds, wasn't sure what the rules were ?

You should be able to get a replacement for your licence. However, you must advise DVLA of certain medical conditions, of which paranoid schizophrenia is one. Details here https://www.gov.uk/paranoid-schizophrenia-and-driving.

If you have a license restricted ie subject to regular reviews by the DVLA medical group, this will involve checks with any health professional to see how long it has been since the last incident or incapacity. I think with mental health issues you have to have been ok for more than 3 months to be ok to drive. I get sent forms approx. 90 days before the expected expiry of my old license, which get sent to the medical group, who then contact my doctors. It usually takes that long for my psychiatrist to reply to their enquiry. A license which is restricted by virtue of a medical condition also has to be declared to your car insurer and usually means a higher premium. But if you fail to declare, and have an accident, your insurance is probably invalid. I hope this helps

I'll speak to my financial advocate and my psychiatrist then.
