Hi all looking to keep an eye on the spends again this month, I dont think we will be better than last month ( and that was scarily appalling) as were away for 9 nights, but I do need to make myself accountable0

I think I'm going to have to sit this month out. Didn't bargain for being left with an open wound that needs to be "packed" every day & won't let me walk more than about quarter of a mile or carry anything much! However I'm well on the mend & it will all improve in good time.
Stocks are still reasonably high and we still have DD1's supermarket discount so the situation's not drastic. But there's no way I can keep track of what the other household members are spending, especially OH. Receipts vanish, stuff gets squirrelled away or eaten on the way home. Ah well, a month "off" probably won't break the bank.
I'll be reading along, commenting occasionally & beaming good thoughts to you all!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
I'd like to join. We are a family of four with two hungry teenage boys. I've recently cut from spending in excess of£600 to £500 last month and would like to get to £400 this month.0

Goodness, that sounds scary, thriftwizard. Did they send you home with all the right materials to take care of yourself?0 -
Welcome to all the new folks and everyone returning after a long absence! :hello: You’ll find this is a good group that’s extremely helpful and everyone wants everyone else to succeed. But, don’t be too hard on yourselves if you don’t meet your goals the first couple of months. There’s no shame in trying to adjust your life.
Eventually spends come down and you start to understand the rhythm of your spending and that of your family/life.
Yesterday was a NSD for me and I had vertigo so didn’t leave the house. I’m feeling somewhat better today and am itching to go for a walk after a few conference calls at home this morning. While out later today I may pick up some powdered sage so I can make breakfast sausage with the ground pork I have sitting in my fridge. Yesterday was supposed to be a cooking day but no way was the dizziness letting me do that.
There’s plenty of food in the fridge to last us the next 4 days as we had an online order arrive on Sunday evening after returning from our mini-honeymoon. I’ll also be leaving here end of May so I need a plan to use up all the food I’ve bought that’s sitting in the freezer and cupboard as well. I think I may have some folks over for dinners to use up supplies like making a chili with the canned tomatoes and frozen ground beef, etc.

Spend of 4.73 for me today. Fancied some salad items for tea but OH has decided it’s sausage, bacon, eggs and chips so salad tomorrow then. Looking forward to tomorrow’s tea already.
GMATLost my way for far too long but now back on board to lead a more simplistic lifestyle

Thanks, JingsMyBucket & elsiepac, it's not quite as horrendous as it sounds! They did send me home with supplies & a daily date with the district nurses at weekends, but I've opted to walk that quarter-mile to the surgery for the practise nurses to change the dressing on weekdays; it's better for me to get out & about. There are better days & worser days, but luckily DD2 can take over on the catering front if I don't feel up to it. I'm one of the lucky ones...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
