Is it really worth all the hassle of opening new accounts for an extra percent on a thousand or so pounds? The amount of extra money earnt in interest is neglible. A one percent increase on £1k is only £10!
It's worth it if you have many thousands from interest free credit cards of course :-)0 -
My wife is trying to open a Cahoot account. A child benefit entitlement letter from the Inland Revenue which has been sufficient for dozens of other institutions, is somehow not good enough for Cahoot! Would love to know why. cport80, I know how you feel. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I was going to apply for this account, but you have to be 21 or over. >:(
I've not seen other banks to this. ??? Wonder why they would do this.
Same here, I was just about to apply until I saw it was for over 21's only, dont see why ???

I too have been trying to open an account with cahoot. I'm beginning to wonder if it is worth it. I have already had to answer stupid queries twice, and now i find that they will not accept a letter from my building society confirming my mortgage outstanding, current interest rate and monthly payment as proof of address.0 -
Thia account is fine for people over 21 but where is my best account for people under 21. I am thinking of a 19 yr old student with 2 years to run at uni. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You have all just helped me make up my milnd. I was just considering opening a cahooot account but after reading all the previous threadsI have decided not to go ahead. It seems as if it would be a repeat of my [glow=red,2,300]previous frustrating experience [/glow]when I opened a toisa with [glow=red,2,300]IF[/glow]. I am not going to bother. My money is with ING at the moment and it would stay there until the forseeable future.-Keep your eyes to the sunshine and you would not see the shadows-

I got a list telling me exactly which kinds of documents are appropriate.
It seems to me that some of you are sending in documents that are not listed here.
Did you not get the list?
If not, are you following it?
I you are not complying with it, then what do you expect?0 -
Can anybody tell me - am I doing something wrong?? Two weeks ago I applied for the cahoot account and on June 27 I got an email saying I was provisionally accepted and a pack should come requesting info etc 'within a few days'. Nothing came so I emailed them and they said they'd send 'another one'. Nearly two weeks on from my original application and still I've received nothing. Should I have done something else? Is it me or is it them?? ???This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You should have ahd some forms in the post.
The obvious thing to check is that they have the correct address for you.
Perhaps a small error in the post code or something is causing it to go somewhere else.
I had my forms within a few days and account was set up very quickly.0
