I managed to open an account after 7 attempts. At 5.5% it was worth the hassle imho. Could have been easier to do though.0

I gave up as I did not like the level of intrusive questioning I get so they can hold onto my money, it is after all mine not theirs what does it matter to them what I do who I do it for I am not applying to use their money. If they were offering me a great deal on borrowing (say 2.9% for the life of the balance) it might be worth until then i don't think the .8% over ING is worth it for the information on me they gather. I think I am worth more than that. Besides I can see the ING rate rising.
(I think the same about loyalty points the peanuts they give back for the information on you they get is not enough, I am worth more, and from next Wed I work for a Supermarket firm!)I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Huggy
Cahoot have a common application procedure. So you answer a load of questions then tel them which product(s) you want to apply for. So you have to answer the employment/earning questions.
you are perfectly entitled not to, but then you won't get the 5.5%0 -

That's precisely what I said I don't think the .8% is worth the amount of information they want. (just as I don't think the measly amount Supermarkets offer is a good price for the information they gather on me.)
I will forgo the 5.5% and stick with 4.7% until such time as they offer me a deal that recognises my value to them better than the .8% does. If that is the value they recon I have then I personally don't think it is enough and will go elsewhere.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Some people take things a bit too personal. This is business ???You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0

Yes its my business, personal or otherwise and I won't sell to just anyone I will hold out for better value or go with those who do not want to gather information on me for virtually no money (in this case money is the information they want to gather on me).
If anyone is happy giving away your property that's up to you, personally I think its bad for the UK consumer to do so as big companies can make huge profits on the information you provide them for next to nothing.
Sorry I rate me higher than the valuation given by Cahoot (maybe I have an over valuation on my own worth) and will not hand over the information they ask for just so I can have the privaledge of them looking after my money.
Not trying too convince anyone else just stating an opinion, maybe I should be on that grupmy old men prog.
Who I work for and any other information like that has no relevence to opening a savings account, yes they may have a single application form, good for them, personally I don't like it and have stated I would opt out of filling it in.
Not really an area for debate as it is personal opinion.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
Huggy Blair,
I agree with you however, can't you just put some bogus info into the system? Then they khow nowt right?
I haven't seen the questions but an example would be to input your sal as 20k rather than 40k and that you work for joe bloggs, can't see this being a problem.

Except it could be seen as fraud, by some.
I also think if that information does not tally with information I have legitimately given elsewhere it may affect my credit worthyness (irational fear maybe).
Maybe I am just fed-up with organisations wanting something for nothing (Texaco AKA TSB stand up and be recognised, 3.9% for life on BT's offered me £1000 when my normal limits on cards are near 10 x that.)
Just ask yourself is the information worth £8 per £1000 of savings for one year? Is it worth another hit on your credit searches? When not borrowing money? (ING is just as irksum for that one). The maximum they will pay for this information is£400 a year and then you have to have £50,000 with them.
There's maximising your income then there is selling yourself too cheaply.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
I agree with Huggy to be honest. I think too many people want to know my business. I understand certain details need to be shared but too many companies are asking too many intrusive questions. I cant believe they had the gaul to ask you what you were saving the money for. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I can see your point but can you tell me in practice what they are going to do with the information that will affect us negatively.
(I am genuinely interested after having just applied).
Personally I am not that bothered about people knowing who I work for and what I earn and extra searches are not a problem either.
I do hate junk mail though, but I think I ticked the right box.
Can you tell me why I should be worried of anyone having this information?0
