No I think you are right Fry. I'm sure I read in the small print that they will send letter via snail mail and wait for your response before activating your account. I think they also use this time to do a quick credit check.

As Bonecold is already an existing customer he probably doesn't have to go through all these checks.

just recieved a confirmation message from Cahoot heres what is says:

We'll send you a pack that will include an Application Form,
a 'Confirming your Identity' sheet and, if requested, a Direct Debit Instruction
and / or R85 form. This should be with you in the next few days - and when it arrives here's what you need to do ...

    - Sign the Application Form and if relevant, your R85 and Direct Debit form (if you haven't already completed this on-line).
    - Enclose the relevant documentation as detailed on the 'Confirming Your Identity' sheet
    - Send the originals of all documents to us in the pre-paid envelope provided

When returning your signed Application Form you must enclose TWO documents
that show your name and your current address as cahoot need to see documentary
proof that confirms that you are who you say you are. This is not as complicated
as it sounds and it is all detailed in the 'Confirming your Identity' sheet.

Once we receive your application form and we've carried out our final checks,
your account will be opened - typically within two days of us receiving your
forms. We'll also send you an email to confirm when this has happened, and post
    back your documents.

Well as a definite newbie to the world of saving (yes my Mother would be ashamed!) I am delighted that my new Cahoot account is up and running with my first deposit being made today. I was a little surprised to see it listed as a second savings account directly under my ordinary savings account though. I thought it would have been listed under the 'Savings and Investments' section. (Not that it's all that important :) )

Anyway it has been furnished with the proceeds of money gained from a 0% offer from M&S &More card, which will soon be joined by other funds gained in the same way via other 0% cards, i.e. MBNA and Barclaycard.

Happy days. I feel like a grown up! Big thanks to all those who've posted tips and info on credit cards and savings, I've learned loads from lurking! ;D

    Hi
I'm new at this so bear with me. I tried to open an account with Cahoot for the 5.5% savings account but, after answering lots of questions, they said that they had nothing suitable available at the moment.?? Since then I have had a complex about my credit rating, which should be OK.
    Anyone else had this problem?

Clicked through MSE link, filled out all the boxes for Cahoot, got to the end of the process, hit a bright red screen, saying if I had problems, contact their 0870 customer services. Anyone else found this - are they now overwhelmed with people switching to them?

Yippeee! Cahoot has set up my new introductory savings account. Yes, it is listed along with my other (ordinary) savings account with them. Considering I only applied online yesterday, they have acted quickly. (However, I have had no emails from them notifying me of the new account. Nevermind. I got what I wanted quickly and that's good enough.)

Will now move my ING Direct savings over pronto.

Many thanks to Martin and MSE members for the quick heads up!

As an existing customer, I can assure you the red screen is a common phenomenon, but if you have done nothing to deserve it, like giving wrong passwords etc , it usually goes away when you try again a few minutes later - give it another go ;D
