  • my new 5.5% account alive this morning ... but not doing transfers from egg etc till monday morning ... lose out on interest over the weekend !!........as, when you withdraw money from an account it is instant and stops accruing interest ,but the few days to transfer it to new account only happens monday to friday.

Mine's up and running too. Either that or I had a good night last night and I'm seeing double.

Does anyone happen to know what id you need to send in for joint accounts.

Is it 2 items per person or will 2 joint items do.

From memory I think it is 1 each for ID but a joint bank statement will suffice for adress.

If anyone has just been through this with Cahoot then can you let me know please.
Otherwise I'll call them and post back.

I just know if you don't send in the right stuff they won't open the account.

OK - I have been told that items can double up, so we can send in 1 Id item with both names on and 1 address item with both names on.

I'm gonna try it and see what happens.

Did it work? Someone has told me applying through the link above (same link in email and article) as opposed to cahoot.com doesn't work - well it definitely clicks through - has anyone done a completed application that way?

Yes, I have just completed an on-line application using your link as sent in the e-mail. Worked first time.

Have Egg Savings Account (outside introductory rate but going to keep open as sticks with BOE baase interest rate until Dec 2007) so the sooner the confirmation e-mail and paperwork arrive, the better. 5.5 rather than 4.5% is worth the effort.

Thanks for the tip (and all the others)
    :)

Opened my account yesterday without any problems. However can't log on. Do I have to wait for a confirmation email or letter through the post before I can start using it ?

Just as a guide, I opened an account for me and someone else (we are both existing customers) on Thursday. We've both been able to access our new accounts from this morning and have had no e-mails or anything through the post confirming it.

That is the understanding I had from when I signed up an hour ago. You have to wait 48hrs for the confirmation e-mail.

Paperwork comes via snail mail for signing (and so you can supply proof of address I guess).

I guess you will only be able to log-on once all paperwork is complete.
