I've struggled to boot from USB before now but I have an old W10 iso on a CD so boot from that, do minimum install, then plug in USB with newer W10 iso and do a fresh install from there.
It's a bit of an ar4e but it works.0 -

Hi, by brand and model number do you mean of the computer? I built the computer myself from scratch so it does not have a brand per se. What parts do you want the details of and I will post them up for you.
Thanks
grumpycrab has done so, but have you tried installing via optical media(DVD)?0 -
possibly the bios can only recognise a fat32 formatted disk
The BIOS works at sector level.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

The motherboard is an ASUS P5KC0 -
some of the older xp/vista computers would not boot off usb, but i think yours is newer mboard than those? If it is a mboard issue, check if there is a bios update to fix it
would suggest that if the site has a checksum for the iso you should check the integrity of the iso
not all usb sticks boot. I have had greater success with the cheap ones, compared the the more expensive high speed ones.
Rufus usually works, but if you wan to try the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool then look here
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool/
It does allow USB booting and by default has this first in the boot order, and recognises the drive that is installed when I go into the BIOS.
Not sure what you mean by a check sum - I downloaded the ISO from the Microsoft site.
I could try a different usb stick but the one I am using is the only one I have at the mo so that will have await until I buy another to try.0 -

Hi is this simply by burning to a DVD rather than a usb stick? I.E can still use rufus and same ISO I have already?
If so, then I will give that a go.0 -

The BIOS works at sector level.
Actually that is not quite true in the days of uefi but i suspect after some sleep that maybe uefi is not his issue.
i have successfully booted an asus p5kc green just this week off usb disks to do an ssd conversion using a macrium reflect winpe usb disk, both my macrium usb sticks are using fat32 format for the uefi compatiibilty.
Anyway if the OP goes with the dvd creation the problem should be avoided0 -
Thanks all, I will give it a go with a dvd when I get chance to pick one up and report back. Typically all the ones I have are old and only 4.7GB which I do not believe are big enough as lets face it, who uses DVDs much these days ?0
