The motherboard is an ASUS P5KC
Should be fine wih optical media.
As an aside, I noticed that you do not have the option to enable AHCI in the BIOS set up.
So I have fashioned a BIOS update that will allow you to enable it in the BIOS set up before installing the OS.
1203 with AHCI.
You would need tp unzip it and use EZ Flash 2 to flash the BIOS.
I've read of a few people bricking that ASUS Motherboard, so I wouldn't bother unless you don't mind the risk. The work is fine, but I cannot guarantee that something else might not go wrong.0 -

I guess because if I want to use a flash drive it says everywhere that it needs to be at least 8GB.
Just checked and the ISO I downloaded from the Microsoft site is 5.2 gb. Is there a smaller one I can download from an alternative site you could direct me to?0 -

Thanks for doing that for me, that is very kind. I will leave it in my back pocket if all else fails!0 -

I do not get that option on the Microsoft site, maybe if i could use the media creation tool but unfortunately not as it is not compatible with vista.
I have revisited the Microsoft page and seen there is an April version of windows 10 I can download which is slightly smaller at 4.4GB so this may fit so am downloading that now and will give it a go.0 -
I've struggled to boot from USB before now but I have an old W10 iso on a CD so boot from that, do minimum install, then plug in USB with newer W10 iso and do a fresh install from there.
It's a bit of an ar4e but it works.EveryWhere wrote: »Why not just boot from DVD in the first instance?
Coz the one on the USB wouldn't fit on a CD, and I was too mean to buy a bigger blank disk ... MSE remember!
(the W10 iso I have is 7,055,040KB - dated 13/10/18)0 -
Update: Thank you all I have successfully installed Windows 10 via DVD.0
