MS Office has disappeared

Hi
My MS Word seems to have been replaced by 'WordPad'. My PC was bought around 4 years ago and is running Windows 10.
I haven't lost any documents but don't understand why MS Office has disappeared completely - I am left with the apps, which I don't like using. Sorry if this isn't very clear but I'm not sure how else to explain it.
I paid for MS Office at the time of purchase of the PC. It is a Packard Bell desktop PC.
Thanks for any advice.

If you paid for it, then you have the product key. So simply reinstall it.
Which version of Microsoft Office is it?0 -
Thanks Everywhere. I'll have a look for the details. I suppose they would have emailed the product key to me when I bought it?
I'm not sure which version sorry, will find out more.
Thanks for your help.0 -
It was Office 2010 which I think I installed from a DVD. No idea where the product key is.
I will contact Microsoft to see what can be done. I've found my Microsoft account and logged in but that is as far as I've got. Not sure whether I will have to get Office 365 instead!0 -
Vanished or you just chose to open with another program?
Right click... open with... and choose office?
Stupid windows 10 often likes to stop file associations, goto open a file ive opened many times and it will popup what do you want to open it with.
Answer = Not your useless built in programs thanks...Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The licence key is printed on a sticker on the DVD packaging, so have you not kept that,or taken a pic of it, or made a record of the key?
Even if MS Office were uninstalled, you won't lose any documents, they're not stored within the program files.
If you can't restore or reinstall it, use Libre Office as a free alternative. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Word is not an option in the drop down menu when opening documents, I've already tried this. MS Office can't be seen from the start button.0

If it cannot find your key, drop AndyPix a PM and enter the key at the Microsoft website above,
It possibly disappeared after a wonderful Windows 10 feature update. AP will help if you cannot find your key.0 -

I'll have a look but I had no idea this could happen so I may not have kept it.
So what would you have done if your computer had been stolen, or suffered hard drive failure, and you wanted to reinstall it on another machine?
You can download the program or install off another DVD easily enough, but the licence key is the most valuable part of the whole package.
What I usually do is write the no. onto the disk itself in case the sleeve does go astray.
Another vote for magic jellybean.
Or you could just do a System Restore. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Easy to see this in hindsight. I wasn't advised on any of this. I bought it from Currys so surely they should have better sales/aftersales as not everyone who uses PCs knows that this could happen and other things happen in life so it is not at the forefront of our priorities at the time.AliceBanned wrote: »

I have a key now from Magic Jellybean but it doesn't work.0
