Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

I rarely want to drink until after 6 p.m. so hot drinks work best for me Rob, even in hot weather. They have the other advantage of being hot so I have to sip them so it keeps the quantity down. Keeping the calories down probably motivates me best of all too so I avoid sweet, soft drinks and in any event I don't like the taste.

Morning all, it's 3/21 for me today

Rob, my go-to drink in hot weather and cold is a cold ginger beer (I prefer Fentimans, which is good and strong) with either a squeeze of lime, or a few drops of Angostura bitters, or two lemon ice cubes - I squeeze lemons and save the juice as ice cubes since that way you always have some on hand. It is particularly good on a hot day but also curiously warming in the winter. I usually only drink one a day when I have finished work or got home from the allotment, or starting dinner, but sometimes I have two. The lemon cubes make it quite lemonadey.RobM99 said:As a slight aside, I'm finding it a tad tricky to find a drink I like in quantity. Fizzy water is OK but tastes of not-a-lot. Mixing with fruit juice - hmmm, but I'm cutting back sugar too and don't want to use sweeteners. Fruit tea is good (LIDL berries one!) but in the heat...
Which do you prefer?
I also like peppermint tea and drink at least one cup a day.

1/12 for today please Cathy.
Rob, it's worth experimenting a lot at the start. I've settled on less sweet options and love the lemongrass & ginger one Bottlegreen do. I also found I like Tonic without gin, Lime and soda and for a change Nix cucumber and mint tastes a lot like an AF mojito. In pubs I often have a Diet Coke (never touch it normally) or an AF Beer although I never drink beer with alcohol. I also find I am a lot more likely to stay AF if I eat early and stay hydrated during the day. Someone needs to create an AF white wine that tastes great - they'd make a fortune!https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6621582/ynab-robber-needs-help-to-execute-the-plan/p1

Insomnia aargh. 2/15 please.
My go to 6 o’clock drink is a B*d zero. Ice cold. Really refreshing. Even OH likes them. N*secco is good. AF C*dar gin with Mediterranean tonic lovely. I know these are all alcohol related but if it stops me from having the real thing I don’t mind. I am doing 16:8 intermittent fasting again and am lying here starving thinking of food. Am sure the insomnia will pass. Goes to show how dependent on alcohol I have become. Popped round my mums this evening. Usually they will force a glass of wine onto me. I must sound different as when I said no I’ll have a glass of water my dad just got up and got one! He did make me a lovely one with lots of ice and a twist of lemon on the side 😂. They have a plumbed in fridge which I envy with ice on tap. Would love to do up my kitchen and get one but very uncertain times at the moment. Let’s hope I can get back to sleep soon before the dreaded alarm at 730. If not hey ho I will just be knackered, hungry but very smug that I am also not hungover 😇Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.5 -
