I bought a couple of Kindle book bargains yesterday - "Mindful Drinking" by Rosamund Dean and "The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober" by Catherine Gray, both 99p. Looking forward to reading those. :)

But the small bottles suggestion is worth looking into for occasions when I do want to drink at home (like my birthday). :)
I think the small bottles are often in the same brands as larger ones but, I think, a better idea would be to plan something special for your birthday so that you're not home alone.:D

I'm out tonight and driving so no decision to be made.

4/10 AFDs please Shaggy and 2/4 for the SNC.

maman, I quite often eat lunch out for my birthday, but I prefer being home in the evenings, even on special occasions. If I go out with friends it's nearly always lunch if I can manage it. I don't like getting home late. :) I like to batten down the hatches when it gets dark. Especially in the winter!

The Catherine Gray book is great, I really enjoyed it.

    5/18 for me please.
Made easy by the fact I have a child in hospital whom I’m staying with. So it’s not even an option.

arsenalbarnie, waking up at 3 or 4am every night and not being able to get back to sleep can be a sign of depression - just wanted to mention this in case it was a possibility. xx

Depending on your age it’s a classic menopause symptom too.

then oh snoring which keeps me awake. His snoring doesn’t wake me up just stops me going back to sleep!

Can you move to another room? OH has developed a loud snore (I mean really loud) over the years. He's not really overweight but he's trying to lose some weight because apparently this can help - even losing a small bit. He's not actually trying to lose weight just to help me sleep, snoring isn't actually that good for you. Between the snoring and the fact that he's got a cold, I've been sleeping in a spare room - might seem a bit sad but the first night I couldn't believe how well I slept. 7 hours straight and deep too! When the colds gone, I'll move back to our room but if his snoring is keeping me up I'm off to another room in future....Actually, all the websites seem to say this is the thing to do. It seems a bit harsh though! We've been married 33 years! I am hopeful if he loses some weight the snoring might go.
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
