Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

I'm looking over the rest of the month, trying to decide whether to drink or not on Christmas Eve, not sure, the problem being I have to work on Boxing Day and don't want to feel really crappy - I've been on this thread so long I don't have much capacity to drink two days in a row any more
Also I'll probably drink on Boxing Day as a colleague and I have plans to go to the only bar near us going to be open that day for a couple at lunch. I dunno. I'm glad I'm trying to think about it. I honestly don't know how I managed to drink every single day back in the day. How did I not feel really rubbish? ... Maybe I've forgotten how rubbish I felt? Definitely no drinking on NYE, whatever happens.

Hope you’re feeling better barny.
I think you are right cathybird you probably felt carp all the time without realising it. I probably am still in that stage although OH did say I have really cut down and I suppose I have. Still need to keep trying.
Have had a restless night. DD had all her mates round before they went ‘out out’. They boys were loud, very loud. I didn’t sleep well as she had a bad experience last time she was out involving paramedics. They said her drink had been spiked. She doesn’t drink much at all usually, doesn’t even go out much. It was very distressing for her and worrying for us. So when OH’s phone went at 530 we thought oh no. However it was in laws ringing. Long and short of it his father is vv ill and off to hospital. So he has gone off on a long drive. Fingers crossed but it doesn’t sound good, he’s very elderly with lots of health issues.
Am hoping tonight will be alcohol free, it will have to be. I am going to have to be prepared to drive down to support the family if anything happens. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday. The days start getting lighter now, have just remembered yesterday was shortest day.Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -

I don't seem to be able to quote, but arsenalbarnie I hope all is well with your family members. Such a worry for you sending you all my best wishes. X
Yesterday was a planned drinking day because I had my annual Christmas lunch with a group of very old friends. However, I'm really pleased that I only had half a bottle of wine during the course of a very long afternoon. That doesn't seem particularly remarkable until I remember previous years when I would have finished the bottle and made considerable inroads into a second. I was the only person drinking red so I brought the remaining half bottle home; it's going in my gravy

I think I probably will drink on Christmas Eve, but will try to restrict it, and will post here to be accountable. I'll see how it goes. If I totally overdo it and feel rubbish on Christmas Day itself then I will know that a) I still can't handle drinking even after all this time and b) Christmas Day will have to be an AFD!0
