Thanks Cathy , that explains the time difference. Well done on coping with the issues and having AFDs as well. :T

Thanks maman - yes it was a bit of a breakthrough for me so I was pleased. :) The time difference was actually tricky in AFD terms, because on the flight there you gain half a day and on the way back you lose half a day and it feels like cheating to count a half-day as an AFD, so I was still keeping British time just for the AFDs. Basically 10am in Australia is midnight here, so my AFD would run from 10am one day to 10am the next. It's complicated :rotfl:but it does work!

Glad you're back safely Cathy Bird. You saying that your normal way of dealing with family stresses used to be having a drink reminded me that when the stakes were really high and I was drinking very heavily, mixing family events and booze was the one thing I avoided. Mind you, it was the only time I did!

Hugely well done, Season of Mist! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy your booze-free six months. It's a heck of an achievement. It'll be interesting how you combine drinking with friends over the next few weeks with not wanting to just drink without thinking about it, but as you managed three months last year and then built on that to do six months this year you obviously have an admirable measure of self-discipline. It's not easy being a non-drinker initially in our society, and it definitely takes an effort. I've taken to drinking water when out with friends and there's no AF beer available, although that's now unusual thankfully.
I'm planning a straight run through 30/10 to reach my target - wish me luck everyone, I'm going to need it!

Massive *good luck vibes* heading your way, WBF. You can do this.

27/31 please, Shaggy, and 30 for November. I love the leafy smilies, very appropriate.

I went to a local farm for a couple of pumpkins the other day; it was a bit like picking a Christmas tree. I can't bear the Americanisation of Halloween but I do quite like the attachment to our older customs and beliefs. It's all significantly less commerical this year, too, a thoroughly good thing imho. Pumpkin soup anyone?
    Better is good enough.

Had an Endoscopy this morning, so going to be AF today 24/26 AFDs today
  • Amazing Seasonofmist what an achievement.

Barny hope the endoscopy wasn’t too stressful and everything was ok.

Am planning on a dry run until the end of the month. Back from a short break. So tonight is 11/15 please Shaggy. No more weight loss to report am afraid.
Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.
  • Evening all ,
Today I went to another AA meeting , I know your not to talk about who you see there and so on , so, I hope I’m not breaking a confidence when I say a few about my own views ?
Firstly I’m staggered at the amount of people who attend ,, the mix of ages as well , and amount of women , all these really did amaze me.
Secondly the love and support they have for the AA ,,, people go to meetings every day ,, for years and years ,,,, For some it’s there life as it is what saved them from death !
I don’t really get the 12 steps , the prayers and sponsors yet,,, and I’m not sure it is for me , , I’m too committed to my job and family and not much time left to go to meetings every day ,,,,but I will keep an open mind , and you do a great cuppa and cake !!

Thanks Honey Bear, Saturday and Sunday sorted. Mostly easy although I nearly wavered at 5/6pm tonight.

I'm planning three more this month to scrape to my target.

    Sleep well everyone.

Barny, hope the endoscopy went okay - I've had one, back in the day, thought it was a pretty bad experience, but at least it doesn't take too long. :(
