Honeybear, Cathybird and Maman thank you for your thoughtful responses.
I spent my lunch yesterday with a calendar of the rest of the year working out a scary looking plan to hit 150. I'll give it some more thought but realistically if I can beat 106 that would be my best result for decades. 116 by the end of the year would mean I'm averaging 150 for the last 5 months of the year so all I then need to do is keep it going in 2020.

Go for it Wanna Bee FreeBut if you want to aim for 100, and then you beat it with 106, I reckon that would feel huge

I went to my friend's birthday lunch yesterday and had four drinks over the course of about three hours, which was quite a lot, though I enjoyed them. Then I went off to my other friend's drinks at a pub later in the arvo and really felt that I'd had enough and shouldn't have any more so I stuck to water. Four drinks is still probably too many really but in days of yore I'd have had at least four more when I got to the second do and then quite possibly one or two more when I got home. So it feels like progress.
Anyway, it's 9/21 for me today.0 -
WBF, the trick is to stay motivated so that you don't have 'Sod It!' days when you do drink, isn't it? Thinking it through realistically in the cold light of day is probably the biggest favour you could have done for yourself, so good on you and good luck with whatever you decide. We're all rooting for you.I went to my friend's birthday lunch yesterday and had four drinks over the course of about three hours, which was quite a lot, though I enjoyed them. It absolutely is progress - being able to stop after four is HUGE! Well done you.
Ooooh, nearly forgot. I weighed myself this morning. 58.5kgs, which was totally unexpected and I couldn't understand why it had gone down when I was expecting it to go up. On reflection during a long dogwalk I realised the big change was that I haven't been using cheese as my go-to snack when hungry this week, even though I hvae over-indulged on biscuits at teatime. Why do I have to keep relearning things I already know?

Dry Saturday so 10/22 please Shaggy. I may have some things going on this week so I'm not going to commit to SNC. Thank you. X0

Thanks Honey BearIt isn't really even self-control though - in terms of mindset, I would have quite liked to have another one when I got to the pub but my tolerance for alcohol has gone down so far over my time on this thread that now if I have four drinks, about an hour or so after the last one I feel not just a bit drunk but also as though my stomach is starting to be unsettled and my teeth are on edge, as though the hangover has already set in (and maybe it has, maybe hangovers just hit you earlier if you drink less). So my body comprehensively rejects the whole idea of going on drinking. It's got to be a good thing but in a sense it's not down to my choices! Another positive thing about it though is I didn't wake up with a hangover because I stopped drinking at about 5pm and sobered up over the course of the evening, slept well then woke up with a clear head as normal. Win win.
Hey and congrats on the weight loss - these things are not easy.
Anyway, 10/21 for me today!0 -
Congratulations cathy. You found your stop button!!:T0

Good for you Cathybird .
I was at a birthday ‘do’ yesterday afternoon too. I bought a bottle of gin fizz at 8.5%. Had 4 glasses of that as felt it was better than 4 of normal wine. But I did have some wine in the evening. Not masses as the glass was only about third full each time instead of up to the top, which is how I normally fill it. Cue going to bed, wide awake until 4 this morning. Also horrible bellyache from the Chinese takeaway we had late. So I think this surgical menopause is affecting my sleep, but obviously alcohol too. DS2 gave me a book to read called Why We Sleep. Very interesting bit about alcohol. Am going to do the snc this week and see if it makes a difference.
So Shaggy can you put me down for 5 for the snc please.Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -
Don't underestimate how important cutting down was in the first place, Cathy Bird. That was your willpower and it's paying off now.
