Why is my home's sold price public, but that of celebs isn't?

Do Zoopla get their prices from estate agents?
    No, from Land Registry.
    http://landregistry.data.gov.uk/app/ppd/

They then apply a bit of historical comparison to determine the price trends for any area, which they then use for the "current value" guesstimates. It's probably not too far off for any generic identikit property, but no better than a wet finger for anything else.

LR's sold prices don't include every price, but the excluded ones are on definite grounds, rather than simply "Don't you know who I am?"

My neighbour's house price doesn't show on RM. Vaguely wondered why, but not that bothered.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

It says on Zoopla how much it sold for...? Maybe they got it from here?

There are mistakes as well as excluded transactions. I think our property's invisibility in the stats is a mistake, unless the rules about inclusion have changed since 2009.

I read with interest that John Bishop's mansion has just sold for £6.8m. Like a lot of occasions when I read things like this, I did some hunting and found the house online. But Zoopla shows no sold price, sold date or current estimated value.

It simply shows listed for sale in June 2010 for £2.5m and sold for £6.8m in Sept 2018.

So how do celebs manage to keep their dealings private when all of us plebs have it all made public?
It's not because he is a celebrity, its because it was a commercial sale and Zoopla don't generally list commercial sales. It is publicly available elsewhere:
12/09/2018 Whatcroft Hall, Whatcroft Hall Lane, Whatcroft CW9 7SQ £6,800,000
And that will probably be because he sold it to the HS2 company rather than anything he did.

It's no different to Zoopla not listing the price of your Local Asda if and when Sainsbury's buy it out.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

If they need a knee operation, for example, they just book in and get one in a week at a private clinic. Mr or Ms Poorperson joins the queue and waits till someone deems their difficulty in walking severe enough. That could be a year or more.

I'm not sure what you want them to do? Join the queue thus pushing Mr Poorperson down even further?

Where did I suggest that people should have the privileges of wealth removed?

Don't think I did. I was merely stating that there are such privileges and that greater privacy is one of them, though it may not be that important in the context of house prices.

You appear to be conflating "wealth" and "celebrity", Dave.

Probably. If there was a celebrity exam, I'd probably get an F.
