Why is my home's sold price public, but that of celebs isn't?

Should I know who "John Bishop" is? Should I care?0

Ironic the way he talked about potentially ''losing everything he's worked for''... at the prices quoted I suspect his house has been earning more than he has in that time period.0

Surely there are many things that don't apply to these so-called celebs.
If they need a knee operation, for example, they just book in and get one in a week at a private clinic. Mr or Ms Poorperson joins the queue and waits till someone deems their difficulty in walking severe enough. That could be a year or more.
Compared with other privileges of wealth, being able to hide a house price, if it can be done, is a pretty small one. And, like most things, if the media can't find out, they'll just guess.0 -

I suspect that many celebs houses are in any case owned by a holding company. Sometimes it's possible for a house to in effect change hands without a transaction appearing as the same company still owns it. All to do with tax shenanigans.0

The answer to both of those appears to be no, so I'm happy to remain unaware as to his undoubtedly C-list status and "achievements".0 -

Everyone else's house - yours, mine, my Mum's etc., is there online for everyone to see. So why not Bishop's and the various other celebs I've tried to look-up in the past?
As such, there is no "Zoopla estimated value" as there is for everyone else's house. Can you pay to have that sort of info witheld from the land registry?0 -
Norman_Castle wrote: »Do Zoopla get their prices from estate agents? Its possible part of the agreement to buy and sell included keeping the price private, possibly because some people seem strangely fascinated with what celebrities own.0
